A Question About Volume Controls Types Maybe somebody else can tell if there's an advantage with one type of volume control over another?
A Question About Volume Controls Types Thanks for all the answers!@oddiofyl This amp sound so much better than the Counterpoint SA3.1 preamp/Adcom GFA555 amp combo that I had been using for over 30 years. I still have a tube front end with a solid state output stage like before, but th...
Marty Balin has passed away. Boy, what sad news. Suddenly I’m feeling much older today.
For those of us over 60.. Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Cream, followed by some Crosby, Stills & Nash, some Allman Brothers, some Stefan Grossman, with a little Santana thrown in for good measure.
Compare Large Advent? I had a pair of the large Advents 40+ years ago and for the money, they were unbeatable in my opinion.I'd be willing to bet they'd still be able to hold their own today with much pricier speakers.
This is juvenile... It is juvenile, but I'll play along.Aside from the sound quality of her recordings, I'm a big fan of Diana Krall's music. It doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes too.
What internet stations are you donating to this year? The only jazz station in my area.https://www.kkjz.org
What were your humble beginnings on the path to high end audio? Great question!Boy, that was a long time ago. I was 15 years old in 1967 and was cleaning windows at a carwash for my "Work Experience" class. I was making a whopping $1.25/Hr. and managed to buy a Pioneer receiver, turntable and two speakers. I s...
Have you ever changed speakers to expereince a different "soundscape" or presentation?? I have two pairs of speakers (Maggie .7s and KEF LS50s) for just that reason. When I need a change, rather than making a purchase, I just switch out the speakers and that change appeases me until I get the itch again.
Add streamer with quality sound to system for Tidal and portable drive I'm streaming Tidal through my Lumin D2. I'm extremely pleased with the SQ and it integrates very well with Roon.http://www.luminmusic.com/lumin-d2.html
A shout-out to Manley Labs customer service My local audio club (LAOCAS) met at Manley Labs for one of our meetings a few months ago and EvaAnna gave us a tour of the entire facility. She was very down to earth a extremely knowledgable about high end audio.
Small or large sub for music I also have a pair of LS 50s that I have set up in a small unused bedroom. I'm using a JL Audio Dominion 108D sub that is down -1.5dB at 31 Hz. I added a second identical sub but found that it overpowered my small listening room and ended up retur...
Filling speaker Stands? Very Well Said, OP!
Filling speaker Stands? I have the same stands you're talking about in the 24" height for my KEF LS50's. I filled mine with 'play sand' from Home Depot. This sand is clean, dry and very fine. Regardless of what another poster in the thread suggested, you want to fill the...
Better CDP or network player? My vote would go to a network streamer. I recently purchased a Lumin D2 and stream Tidal through it. I'm finding that I rarely use my CD player anymore because it's so much more convenient to just play the selection through the D2. Another reason ... |
