What is a really good sounding low volume system??
Pick up a set of quad 63's. It is usually available for $1500-2000. Use with a tube integrated and you have a great low volume system for not a lot of money.
Sara K cd recommendations
Her music on stockfisch label is all excellent.
Etymotic ER4P Reliability
Have used my my pair for more than 4 years and they are used 2-4 times a week. Other than changing filters or silicone plugs, they have been bullitt proof. My daughter used a pair daily for 2-3 years until she recently lost them. Same zero problem...
Scratched CDs
I second Elizabeth's recommendation of Meguair's. It really works.
Joseph Audio Pearls?

3 channel sound
I believe it was a discrete 3 channel recording. 5.1 recordings played reminded me of days of quadrophonic sound with band instruments playing separately from the front and from the rear. The best 5.1 recordings I have heard from dsd, Sacd discs, ...
Why can you buy a car at dealer Invoice but audio
Minori, your comments about the auto and audio industry are only partially true. Sadly there are a lot of car dealers whose practices are borderline scam and fraud. But just like not all brick and mortar audio stores are jerks, so it is with the c...
Could they sell a high-end amp without the fancy
Agree with French_fries above. At Axpona the Hegel 200 drove Sony top of the line speakers beautifully at all volumes with all of the music demo'd. A drum solo that led into a live "Take Five" set was especially well done. First time the group of ...
Some Axpona thoughts
Favorite speakers over Friday & Saturday1. Acoustic Zen-could have sat there all day. It just sounded like music.2. Orion 4-Amazing transient response and range played well in big room.3. Sony speakers-great sounds and fabulous construction.4....
