Soekris ApS dac1101 another discrete R2R Multibit dac.
Weird, the matter appears to be resolved but the guy just wrote a lengthy dissertation and referred to a dictionary!  Some people just have a whole lot of time on their hands I guess.
Looking to upgrade amp, need help.
Your speakers have 92db sensitivity, 40-50 watts will be more than adequate.  When your speakers hit 101db, you are still only using 8 watts! My room is smaller, my listening position is 10 feet away from my speakers which are rated at 89db sensiti...

Nothing wrong with Kuribo posting his experience about Soekris or his beef with them.  We all can make our own judgement about trusting this seller or not. You really shouldn't sign up on this forum just to carry on your crusade either. PS: there ...

Yes, you should go for tubes with the Focals.  I had the smaller brother to the 836V years ago.  The treble was a bit hot but the sound was so open and clean.  +1 for Rogue Audio.  Have a look at Jolida 3502, have used one for over a year now with...
Monitor Audio Silver 8 - Power Handling
From what I have read, the Emotiva stuff is good value for money but may not have the most refined sound.  With those speakers, I would add some tubes to the mix, start with a tube preamp and go from there.

Jason, what source and preamp are you using?  I think you want to look at those if you lack some resolution before you try swapping amps.
Monitor Audio Silver 8 - Power Handling
Given that you are only six feet away, I doubt you exceed 10-15 watts before it makes you uncomfortable.  So, no worries, a lot of people think they need the high wattage when they don't.

How loud do you play your music?  How far is your listening position? Maybe you can get a decibel meter and find out?  You are likely only using a few watts with 90 db speakers at a level that won't harm your hearing (below 85 db).
Integrated Amp Upgrade-itis hitting....
Beernut, you can't go wrong with the PM8005 assuming it is about the same as the older version I am familiar with.  I am not sure it would be an upgrade over the MF A3.2 though. Consider Yamaha as well, A-s2000 perhaps.
Which server / renderer to buy?
Aurender N100H - that seems like a lot of money for what it does.  And you are still stuck with USB output to a dac, correct?  For a tiny fraction of what the N100H, you could just connect a NAS or HDD to a Rpi and use a I2s to spdif hat or an I2s...
Looking for an used, inexpensive pre amp
Nad C160 is a fine preamp, I have the C162 and like it.  In 100-200 price range, you can probably get a decent vintage unit.  Look at Nikko or Yamaha preamps from the 80's.
Help me to choose turntable below 1600$.
No one has mentioned the sloppy tonearm bearings on the Plx1000 which seems to be the hallmark of decks made by Hanpin.  It was noted in the Stereophile review and I read the same thing in some reviews on Amazon, Vinylengine, etc.  So, any owners ...
Yamaha Amp M-70 question and Opinions
It's a beast of an amp.  Like the Yamaha integrated I had from that era, I think all those power amps were class A for the first 10 watts or so and yes ran hot.
Tube Integrated Amp to Drive Floorstanding Speakers?
You have a wonderful integrated already. Get it serviced/recapped and it will drive the speakers you are considering and do it with finesse.  Those Kennys are special.  The Primaluna amps not so much (at least the Prologues).
Jelco SA-750D or Rega RB250
2channel8, did the custom collar work well?   I saw it but decided against it because it still has one setscrew only.  I guess it could have less clearance to make it work.  I got one made with 2 setscrews 45 degree apart and with a little less cl...
