Springsteen's "Magic" on vinyl, opinions? I think the Seeger Sessions record sounds quite good, don't you? Haven't heard Magic. Agree with Cmo about Nebraska--love that record and the sound is appropriate for the material.
Static on Vinyl I huff some breath on my Audioquest carbon fiber brush before giving the record a final sweep before I play it. The moisture in my breath seems to neutralize the static. Learned that one from Jim at Audio Ecstasy in S.L.O.--thanks Jim!
Zappa plays Zappa I hope you don't mind me chiming in. I'm totally unfamiliar with Frank Zappa's music, and you are all such knowledgable fans, so I was wondering if you could suggest 2-3 disks that would properly introduce me to the man and his music.
Shout out for Better Records Once again, my simple-minded thread beginning has uncovered a wealth of information from you all who know far more than I. I really appreciate Bongo, Maria, and Viridian's comments re. "Hot Stampers". Even if I did have the money, my middle class ...
Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high Sorry if I came off defensive. You're right--you did just give advice, and it was good advice, too. I looked again at the chart on tilt in the manual and recalculated distance/listening height/tilt. BINGO! I sit pretty far away from my speakers--1...
Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high In response to Stevecham and Davemitchell, and in my defense, here are two direct quotes from the Model 2Ce Signature operation manual: "With all the possible variables in room layout, there are no magical formulas for determining the best speaker...
Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high clarification: I did tilt the speakers back, not forward (I'm not that dense). And I did read the instructions and follow their guidelines. I'm just fooling around with placement and adjustments in hopes of finding a golden locus point for my part...

Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high I screwed my front feet down then adjusted the speakers flat using the back foot. I found this allignment deteriorated the sound in my room--high and midrange details became blurred--so I've been notching it up a bit at a time. Even a quarter bubb...
Hugh Masekela Listeners Out There ? The Hugh Masekela album I like is called "Grrr" Verve records put out a 96 kHz, 24-bit remaster CD from original tapes a few years back. I play it at my house when we party(along with The Meters)and everybody starts groovin'!!
christmas music It's bad luck to play Christmas music before Thanksgiving!
christmas music The Jethro Tull Chritmas album is excellent. Also try Buck Owens' Christmas album. And the Nutcracker--I've listened to The Sir Charles Makerras LSO one for years, but just ordered the new "Favorite Selections from The Nutcracker" on SACD with Eri...
Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high I keep messing with placement and toe-in and tilt, too. I'll try the no tilt method. Thanks. And Swampwalker, I contemplated neck extension surgery, but the costs were prohibitive.
Vandersteen 2CE Sigs tweeter too high Thanks guys. I messed up on my measurements--the speakers are the right hight after all. Sorry for the hasty post. BTW, I do have allen bolts with felt bottoms in place of the spikes.
Black Gospel With Good Sound The Fairfield Four CD is wonderful! Deep feeling and rhythm and each voice is distinct--I especially like the bass singer's parts. ARC Choir is great as well--like a gospel choir is singing in my living room! I also picked up The Angels CD from Ma... |
