CJ CAV 50 vs. VTL IT 85 vs. Rogue Tempest
Thanks Zaikesman for the advice on the retube. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. On your advice I've just emailed Triode Electronics for a quote.Rooze
Help with upgrade path
Thanks Stehno and Rockinroni.....I'll read up on the McCormack amp, it sounds like that may be a good step forward. Also, thanks for your input Rockinroni on the analog angle. I completely agree. I had a Linn LP 12 for 14 years, and stupidly sold i...
CJ CAV 50 vs. VTL IT 85 vs. Rogue Tempest
Hi,I've had a CJ CAV 50 in my system now for over 3 years. Still using the original tubes, and have to set the bias about every six months, it takes about 30 seconds. This is a great sounding amp, I replaced a Krell 300i and have never looked back.
What's between your AA"S
I have DDS Pro with an EAD 7000 MK III.I've just added a Dti Pro 32 and it's a very worthwhile upgrade considering the low cost. The soundstage is bigger, more width and a little more depth. The sound is cleaner, maybe a tad too bright for the more...
Krell KAV 300i
Hi,I owned a 300i for about 2 years. I'm from the UK and had read all the reviews, and was kind of lusting after this unit for quite a while. When I came to the US I was able to pick one up for $2k from a local dealer, so was pretty pleased with t...
Which components knocked you out on first listen?
My first encounter with tubes was with an old Leak Stereo 20 power amp. I picked it up at a garage sale and had all of the caps/resistors etc replaced with audio grade parts. The sound was unreal, so musical and non-fatiguing. It blew away my Linn ...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Walk-around the musicians in your living room. Real palpable imaging with great dynamics and real bass.
Your 5 Fav Rock Concerts
Genesis and Peter Gabriel, one night reunion at Milton Keynes Bowl UK, Oct 2 1982 (if memory serves me right. I know it was Mike Rutherford's birthday, pretty sure it was 82).Incredible concert, a few technical bugs and a lot of rain.
Great Imaging Speakers Working against a wall?
Thanks all for some great ideas! With only 12' room width, and the speakers 40" from the front wall, there is only scope to pull the listening seat a foot, maybe 18" at the most, from the back wall. I've tried this and frankly, being within 5/6 fee...
Audio Alchemy DTi Pro 32 - Any Good?
Thanks all for the feedback.I guess based on your input I'm going to try and find a Pro 32 on ebay/audiogon and give it a whirl. Thanks again for the solid advice.Rooze
Vibrapods under speakers
I've had vibrapods under equipment for almost 2 years, but never tried them under speakers until about a month ago. I have monitor speakers sat on heavy target stands, and had always used spikes between stands and speakers, thinking that was best....
Pink Floyd - The Wall Sony 2000
Its okay if you are a floyd die hard. I bought the CD and the sonics are very good for a live recording. It is better than the Pulse CD for example which is a much more recent recording. It has good soundstage width and depth, though I find the so...
