12AX7 tube alternatives for Jolida JD-100
Wharfy,I,m assuming you meant to type "12BZ7", and yeah, I've read similar comments.I just recently found out about the TJ Full Music 12AX7's, which sound promising, but are pricey.
12AX7 tube alternatives for Jolida JD-100
I've tried a few of the popular old and new 12ax7/5751 tubes in my JD100, and in the long run, I stuck with the new Sovtek 12ax7lps. Maybe not the best overall tone, but the dynamics are much closer to "lifelike", over anything I've tried. And, th...
two problems on my new music hall dac 25.2
The buzz is most likely a defect. Exchange it. The "Lock" light should always be on when locked on a signal. If only the lock light is on, it's 44.1. It's just a dual purpose indicator.
Why don't any good CD players resume play?
Who the heck even wants to start a song half way into it, anyways? If I ever get interrupted, I'll restart a track from the beginning. If you want start at a particular track number, just go there. A "resume play" feature for redbook CD seems poin...
Break in for a NEW 5 year old player
If you're concerned about break in, just keep a disk playing on repeat, while not in use. Otherwise, just listen and enjoy. The fact it has been in a box for 5 years shouldn't have any effect on break in.
Help: My newly upgraded AA Capitole gives no sound
Either send it back to the guys who messed it up, or use it for a $10,000 door stop.
Budget single disc player-under $600
There is no single "best" new player in your price range. They're all going to have certain strong points and weak points. And, they're all going to sound slightly different, from one another, depending on who you ask. Unless you can demo and comp...
affordable DAC for rock/metal
Undertow,.....I'm glad someone else understands what I'm trying to say. First of all, I'm a beer budget guy, so I'm pretty limited on what I can work with. It's been easiest to "synergize" my current system for certain music types, and getting acc...
affordable DAC for rock/metal
Newbrook. Yes, most accurate is usually best overall, but not all CD's are recorded/mixed the same, and many rock/metal CD's can sound overly aggressive and annoying on many high resolution systems. Some players and dacs are known to sound more "f...
affordable DAC for rock/metal
Yeah, I have to agree about the Valab. When I was comparing a Valab to some other dacs (Dacmagic being one of them), the one thing I really liked about the Valab was it's ability to allow me to totally crank up my nastiest sounding rock/metal cd's...
The CD Player Lie?
For the life of me, I don't see how anyone can draw any conclusions from listening to quite a few different components, within a short period of time. This gets very confusing. I can't tell you how many times I've compared changes during one sessi...
Best Used CD Player Under $500?
Ok, my turn to recommend my favorite sub $500 player. A used Jolida JD100. There ya go......so far, five different players that all sound different :-)Isn't it funny how the same players keep getting the same recommendations, from the same users, ...
Subwoofer suggestions for SMGA's
Good subs will cost you more then what you paid for your SMGa's. If you don't care how much you have to spend for good results, then skip what I'm gonna tell ya. If you're on a budget, then read on.I always try to get the best possible sound, for ...
Oppo BD83 as a transport
Why would you even consider a BD83 as strictly a redbook CD transport? Who has ever claimed the BD83 was a "giant killer" CD transport?
Redbook CDP under $1,000 used
If you want something that's just plain "musical", pick up a used Jolida JD-100a (stock), throw in the tubes of your choice (I dig the Sovtek LPS's), add a decent power cord, and be done with it.Like most anything else that's affected by personal ...
