Do glass shelves affect sound Quality?
Thanks for your responses. I inquired about Herbies Audio Lab and they suggest using a set of tenderfoot under each component plus a supersonic stabilizer on each component. Has anyone used these products and will they be effective on glass?
Looking for a DAC for the Squeezebox Touch
My squeezebox touch died over the weekend. The logictech logo appears only and then shuts down after about 2 minutes. I unplugged it but it did the same thing again. Instead of looking for a dac, now I need a music server also. So I decided to ste...
Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
Dbarger, thanks for your feedback. I also upgraded the power supply on the touch.
Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
Lewinski, I was a little disappointed with both DACs by comparing them to the original cd using the Oppo 95. I was expecting them to sound better than the original cd. I found the Oppo less grainy and a little more detailed. I did the comparisons ...

Dbarger, Have you compared the optical vs the coax? Also do you use the stock power cord or an after market cord?
Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
Jult52, based on your response, the Octave is very sensitive to jitter and a reclocker was necessary in your case. I guess my question was whether a reclocker is necessary since I'm using the squeezebox touch. I previously used the W4S DAC 1 and t...
Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
Jult52, thanks for your response. Concerning reclocking, is this a variable with either input?
Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
I plan to purchase the octave with use with the squeezebox and I'm wondering if anyone compared the sound quality using coax cable vs optical cable. Also does either cable require a re-clocker or is that just for USB connections? Thanks, Ron
Looking for a DAC for the Squeezebox Touch
Vic,I appreciate your response especially your advise not to go overboard. Digital is not my main source but I would like to hear music smooth and full and not too digital. From what I read the Rega and Burson might fit the bill for under $1k. I'l...
Looking for a DAC for the Squeezebox Touch
Bondmanp, as you stated,it would be a difficult choice without a return option. I'll consider it but I need to do more research.
Looking for a DAC for the Squeezebox Touch
Well I'm back again looking for a DAC in the $1000 range. I tried the W4S DAC 1 and wasn't totally impressed. It was connected to the dac using a Black Cat coax cable. It was a bit dry and grainy in my system when compared to playing a cd thru the...
Suggestions for new AV Pre-Pro
Due to an unexpected home repair this past weekend I was able to place the purchased of the SSP-600 on hold. In the mean time I wondering if anyone has played digital files thru the 600 and how it sounds in 2 channel.
Suggestions for new AV Pre-Pro
Malon, I also believe in synergy among components and with cables but the problem is trial and error. It gets quite expensive buying and selling components and hoping it will sound best in your system. I happen to like the sound of the Sim I-7 and...
