CD recorders with hard disk I have a Yamaha CDR-1000, but I've only used it for one thing... copying vinyl to cd. It does a great job of that. I must admit, I consider Yamaha a fairly low-end brand, but it feels like it's built well, and honestly, if I play cd's through it, ...
Another "help me pick speakers" thread Tpreaves-Heh, those were MY Taylo's! You probably didn't see my last post when you posted, but I DID go with some Tyler floorstanders. I'm pretty psyched. More than for any other speaker I was considering; I really think I'm going to like the Linb...
Another "help me pick speakers" thread Well, this may be a record for the time between starting a thread like this, and making a decision. I saw a used pair of Tyler Acoustics Linbrook System II's pop up, and contacted Ty. They were 2 inches wider than I wanted (footprint = 10 X 12), b...
Another "help me pick speakers" thread The 16" depth on the Von Schweikert VR-2 will be a problem. When I listen, I'll have to turn them so they are at a 45 degree angle (roughly) from the side wall. Speakers that deep won't fit (they'll hit a piece of furniture, which I can't move). W...
Another "help me pick speakers" thread I should also mention that volume shouldn't be much of an issue. My Tyler's were 88db, and I could only turn the volume a little past noon. Same with the OHM's, but I'm not sure how efficient they are. I figure, unless the speakers are real ineffi...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? I can't really get them in front of me... they are more to the sides. They are probably only 2 feet "in front" and about 5 feet to the sides, but due to crap in the room, I can't really change this. I did move them around a bit, but the bass seeme...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? "Are you getting a big soundstage and reasonably detailed imaging at least at this point?"Yes. Definitely. That's not a problem at all.I don't have any latitude on placement. I sit on the back wall (on a sofa- in the middle), and the speakers are ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Well, I just got my Micro SE's, and I'm listening to them now. The good- highs, mids, soundstage, form-factor, and they look pretty cool. The bad- bass. It's not horrible, but I feel like I need a sub, and that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid (...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? I just ordered Microwalsh Tall SE's in Rosewood... gotta wait 2-3 weeks for them. Heh, I'm kinda banking on being able to sell my current speakers in that time-frame, otherwise I'll have some explaining to do, seeing as my main motive was to save ...
B&W Speaker Boxes - Advice In my opinion, you can't rate your speakers a "9" without the original boxes (although, some people do). I agree that they are worth less without the boxes.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Thanks for the responses, and clearing things up. I think I'm gonna go for the micro talls if/when I sell my Tyler's (I lowered my price to hopefully speed things up). The OHM factory is actually only a mile from my apt, which is kinda cool.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? I still don't get the impedance thing, but if I go with these, I'll call Rogue- they are always really helpful.Yeah, I've read that they have a wide (or "big", or something) soundstage, so I always thought that meant I could spend less time worryi...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? I read a lot of this thread, and it's tempting me to try some MicroWalsh SE's (my main speaker search has been for something with a very small footprint, due to some constrained NYC living situation). Basically, I'm downgrading, because I need som... |
