To all tube lovers....... Pass Labs Monoblocks Aleph 2 single ended 100 watts each. For sale now. Have heard these before and they are as close to tubes as you can expect. They do give off a lot of heat but oh what sound. Probably drive any speaker out there. My opinion bu...
RIP Ray Charles I'm a traditionalist and would not replace the national anthem. But, if ever there was a piece of music to replace our national anthem, Ray Charles version of "America" would definitely be at the top of my list. I get goose bumps just thinking abo...
ok guys get me into 200+ wpc Check out Parasound. There is a dealer selling the HCA-3500 (350 watt into 8 ohms high current) for a little more than you have budgeted, otherwise look at the HCA-2002 models which are rated at 220 watts into 8 ohms. Mighty powerful and nice soun...
What's under your bookshelf speakers? Mapleshade records recommends spikes to de couple the speaker from the stand. As a last resource use wood plugs which are better than any soft material. Best thing about all these suggestions is that they are not costly.
Source for volume control knob Good ol Rat Shack. Sorry I don't have the part #s. They have several different sizes and install as you describe with one or two set screws depending on size.
Large Speakers Small Rooms Yes Bigjoe I agree about big sound coming from big speakers but if you have a small room like mine... Well it would just overload the room. I'm interested in members that have floorstanders in small rooms and how well they play in those small room...
Large Speakers Small Rooms My room is 12'10"L X 9'10"W X 8'H with rug over concrete sheetrock walls and popcorn ceiling. I am using Spendors 1/2 with an EL-34 50 watt amp (see my system), but have always wondered what floorstanders could do in this particular room which is ...

What was your first music that you paid for? "Collection" by the "Young Rascals" I must have worn out that LP. Think I paid around $3.00 for it. I'm still "Grooovin" to the music! After that came the Stone's "Aftermath" then Chicago Transit Authority. IMO, still all classics and the best tim...
Did Svetlana change hands? Go to the stereophile website where you will find a detailed explanation similar to Infinitebaffle's. It may not be confusing to "proffessional buyers" but it sure is to me!
How many of you guys use a HT processor ? Thanks for the responses. I guess you all pretty much answered my question and agree that a preamp processor is not the way to get maximum musical information out of a 2 channel system. Sooo, for now I will continue to search for a line level prea...
How many of you guys use a HT processor ? I meant to use the processor strictly as a preamp in a two channel system. Only for the reproduction of music. No movies nor 5.1 channel. Thanks
Scott nixon dac.... Read a thread here recently on Audio Note going filterless in their Dacs. You may want to do a search and read more about the filterless approach.
Recomended amps for Dunlavy SC111 I agree with Aaronm. I've heard Dunlavy's with Pass Lab Amps (the zeros?) and they sounded very good to my ears.
What is the best tweak? Room acoustic by far. The biggest difference in sound will come from this area whether good or bad. If you have "good" sounding equipment, tweaking is just what the word means. You are squeezing the best performance of what you already have. Wheth... |
