Would a ARC ph5 have enough gain for a Lyra Titan
You guys are right. Thinking back, would really depend on the rest of the system. But I know this guy whose system comprises of Lyra Skala fed into an ARC ref 3/ph7/ref 110/ Wilson Watt-puppy. He does complain about the gain, pointing to the ref 3...
Would a ARC ph5 have enough gain for a Lyra Titan
The gain of the ARC PH5 is pretty healthy, It's the 12db gain of the ARC Reference preamp that might be a problem.
I have gone insane, need help
You should go into Rehab to tame down this addiction of yours. I'll send you a link where you can sign up. Be sure to pick the second batch so we can meet there.Seriously speaking, Since you give credit to the design philosophies involved and If t...
Has anyone heard the Kuzma 4 Point arm?
My friend has one and I've heard it several times already. I'm quite familiar with his equipment and He uses the same cartridge that I also have, a Zyx 4D/Atmos(mine is mounted on an SME IV.Vi). While I respect the design and admired the craftsman...
Mint Tractor
Oh, the spindle size. yes, forgot about that one. Well just measured it with a caliper and it's good news for me. Looks like I can use it for the other record decks. Thanks to you guys , swampwalker and Isanchez.
Mint Tractor
A rather late and newbie question. I would assume that the tonearm pivot to turntable spindle distance and cartridge stylus to cartridge mounting hole distances are some of the parameters used in determining the final plots of Yip's protractor, my...
Has any of you tried this for Cartridge break in
I use a Zyx 4D gold, from My side of this world it's what an Atmos is called. Awesome for rock and Jazz but I also like the way it plays classical. Incredible soundstage depth and layering. Really improves as it warms up (all that time I thought i...
ZYX too light for my Shroeder arm. Help
Zyx also produces a product called "The Silent Metal". The Brochure says: The silent metal works to prevent the occurrence of the reflected vibration on the headshell surface by its special material, shape and the thickness. Thereby the real time...
Mistracking zyx after hibernating?
Here's my report guys,Yesterday I checked the mounting parameters. I was surprised that the overhang was a bit off. I do have the old Dennesen protractor but I used the feickert protractor and Hi-Fi news test record to verify alignment. I ran the ...
Mistracking zyx after hibernating?
Bnrlaw,Stingreen,Storyboy,I did check the vtf and it was still 1.9 g. I have some particular records which I use to check tracking and they are pretty quiet but i'll let them go thru an RCM again.I'll double check the other mounting parameters and...

I've recently just retubed my Ph3 after 9 yrs(standard tubes were sovteks 6922. The new ones that i got from ARC are EH)Got the low output zyx bloom first to see if i had adequate gain in my phono section before i took the plunge for the 4D.Compar...
Phono pre for ZYX 100 Yatra high output
Wow! this is very interesting for me. Then i'm quite lucky my crappy old gears have been working for me. Makes me realize how important that 1 db difference between Zyx artisan (55db) and the Ph3(54db)is. I would assume that the tubes in the ph3 a...
Phono pre for ZYX 100 Yatra high output
I use the low output zyx carts (.24) using the standard ARC PH3 into the line level input of an ARC sp-10 and into the Audible illusions M3a. I also get good results when i use the phono of the ARC sp-10(between 10-1 o'clock volume position) and t...
What's inside the plinth of your Garrard 401?
George, with 50hz pulley still can't compensate the speed using the pitch control, though you can zero in on the strobe markings but still too fast. One alternative is to shave down your existing 50hz pulley to 5/6 of what it is (have a caliper to...
What's inside the plinth of your Garrard 401?
Yes you're right. Strobe markings on the platter is 50hz (someone told me that the 401 was a uk domestic model only). I actually had a power supply made to make it work at 50hz but it blew up so for the meantime i'm using a 60hz pulley which a fri...
