Best Rock Drummers
In Rock, to me the most musical, melodically that there was is Ringo Starr. he didn't need to be an army marching in on a thunderous, deafening attack. he was just the right drummer for the Beatles. He made it all look simple. I saw the likes of K...

Dust cover up or down?
My experience is, it all depends. With my Belt drive Music Hall MMF-5 I had to play a disc with the dust cover off. With my direct Drive Technics SL 1210 GR it does not matter which way, closed, off, half way open, it's all the same. No effect o...
Macintosh pre amps
OK. Thanks guys, I think I got it now. I'm so used to receivers that always have a sub1 and/or sub 2 connection labeling that I didn't think that an output labeled connector can be used for subwoofers.
Macintosh pre amps
I checked the back panel pictures for the SS ones and I see balance and Unbalanced inputs and outputs, but not Pre outs, unless is me that can't understand McIntosh labeling of connections.
Turn it up...?
Is your preamp/AV receiver set to night mode? That could explain.
your first system-
I can't recall models, but1981 Technics TT, Receiver and speakers. The cheap entry level ones. The TT was an SL model with an Audio Technica cartridge.
Is Rap a valid musical form?
I like some, but most of what I heard the dudes talking they sound like retards, du, du,du, du. Makes feel like effing myself when I hear those retards sounding dudes.
Bad recordings and high end audio
Off topic but man, If you're going to listen Led Z, or any other rock/heavy rock music, then JBL is the ticket. All those live concerts I saw were only played with JBL equipment.  Now, they're not the same like the ones for home music listening, b...
Sota or Technics
When I bought the Technics 1200GR (Jan/Feb. 2018), this is what I posted in another forum:" I just recently bought the Technics SL 1200GR, which I paired with my Goldring MM 1042 cartridge. I change the the stock headshell with a Yamamoto Acousti...
Mismatch voltage
@erik_squires: thanks, I will check the VA rating for the converter that I have. This is why I asked, I knew that it wasn't as simple as to plug the unit into the converter.
Mismatch voltage
Thanks for the info, but according to the seller a step up/step-down is required to connect the 220v one. JBL does not say that this is a switching power supply. They specify 120V for the USA market, and 220V for Europe.
Most hyped turntable, tonearm, and cartridge?
OK. My turntable is better than your turntable, my turntable is better than your turntable. Come on sing along. My turn.....
Why is black so popular for components?
The word decor was omitted. My living room is not all wood. The decor is what's wood: chairs, dining table, entertainment center, speakers, etc. And yes...that's the wife acceptance criteria: speakers must match the overall decour in the room, and...
Why is black so popular for components?
On this topic. My living room is all wood, on the lighter shades of cherry. Black is anathema in that room. Even my speakers/subwoofer set are in light cherry. For the last few years I've been trying to add another sub into the system, but I can't...
