Marantz DV-8400 or Denon DVD-5900 or ? I just purchased a Marantz DV-8400. Haven't heard it yet ( still hooking up the audio ),but the video is awesome using the DVI output ( had to use a Monster conversion cable to hook it up to my new Pioneer plasma which has HDMI inputs ).
Why dual subwoofers ? Well, I just ordered the second sub( another Velodyne HGS 15 ). BTW, the rest of the speakers are B&W Nautilus( 802's - mains / 803's- surrounds / HTM1 - center ). I'll let you know what I think once I get it in the system. Thanks for the feed...
Best Remote?? Another good choice is the Home Theater Master MX-500. Lots of hard buttons and easy to set up / use. I've been using it for the last few months and love it.
B W Nautilus 802 - How much power? I own a pair of B&W N802's myself and recently upgraded my amps ( an Aragon 8008BB to a Proceed HPA ). Though the power difference wasn't a lot ( from 200 to 250 watts ), the results were much better sound overall, smoother and more detailed. ...
Hate to ask...... Avguy, I agree that a comination system can be assembled which does justice for both music and movies. I went with all Proceed source components and amps ( pmdt / avp / hpa's 2/3 )and B&W Nautilus series speakers ( 802's for mains / 803's for ...

Digital Support I agree Rpell, the arguement regarding which format sounds better is strictly subjective. It's time we got away from comparing the two. That's what got me so upset in the first place.Either format done well can be extremely rewarding.Personally I ...
Digital Support You're right, Rcprince did present a good case and so does Dekay, and in fairness, I intend to give the new and improved version of todays' phonographs another listen. I've been letting my frustration with a few individals and their prejudices clou...
Digital Support Rcprince, thanks but no thanks. I have no intention of moving backwards. The digital future is bright and I for one intend to be part of it !
Digital Support Digital sounds better. All I remember about vinyl is popping, crackling, scratching and skipping. Digital is more convienient, versatile, flexible and ever improving. Besides, it's all about the software. Do they even make albums anymore ? I can't rem...
Digital Rules Sugarbies' right, only "Live" really rules !
Digital Support What really irks me and caused me to write this topic in the first place is the smug, superior attitude detected when reading many so called "audiophile" postings extolling the virtues of analog gear and their constant put down of digital gear. I ...
Digital Support Metaphysics you're obviously one of the snobs I was referring to.
I need help with hum I am using the Mondial "magic" box and am very pleased with it. I had a similar "hum" caused by a cable tv hookup and the box worked.
The BEST system you've ever built !!!! My system consists of all Proceed source components (PMDT /AVP)and amps(HPA's 2/3). Speakers are all B&W (N802's for mains,HTM-1 center, N803's for the surrounds),and a Velodyne HGS 15 sub. Interconnects are Transparent "super" ( balanced on t... |
