Redbook for the long haul
For what it's worth, I made decisions on my personal "long haul" question a few years ago, which I feel are still valid. I felt as I grew into my equipment over time, it originally had to be better than I could appreciate then and/or it could grow...
Did you ever just want to simplify?
Yes, I think the process of simplification can be the solution to a general over-involvement with the gear. When your objective is reduced complexity, refinement is key to avoid compromises in any area. For me it cost more to get less, but the res...
What does Holographic mean to you?
My definition would simply be different words than those used above. I think "holographic" is more of a situation where the illusion becomes believable and almost touchable. Whether it is a soundstage (sonic holograph - nice term) or visual field ...
CD Cutting and / or Trimming
Coincidentally, I have been seeking opinions on this device as well. Since it is not new, it doesn't draw much attention or discussion. No hype, feedback is positive.

Favorite Ella Recordings
The songbooks recommendation is an excellent one. I will to seek out Tvad's title also. "Take Love Easy" - Ella with Joe Pass, is one I found to match the description of what you're looking for.
You used to love it but now.......................
I think music and art reflect the underlying spirit of the time. Popular music more than most genres are readily recognizable (publicized) as an influential part of their current cultures. Music of the time, at the time of their greatest strength,...
Speakers: What's MOST important to you?...
Other than the attributes listed above, I think overall balance is critical. Nothing glaring or exaggerated. I want the presentation to float unrestricted, like the opening of a window and the removal of walls in the room.
What's your favorite Patricia Barber album?
It's difficult to choose favorites, but Cafe Blue may be it for me. The Split album is similar in vein to Verse and equally enjoyable.
Medieval-style music
Interesting thread and it appears a genre worth looking into. Could anyone tell me if Return To Forever's Romantic Warrior has any characteristics that may be considered medieval?
Female Vocalist like Diana Krall, Jacintha.
Melissa Errico. While simply browsing at my local Tower Records, I picked up this artist's cd "Blue Like That" without any knowledge of her. It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise and quite enjoyable. Good recording too.
Audio Diversity - What is it?
Thoughtful questions and well thought out answers above. I believe opinions sustain all interests. If you believe every opinion is correct based on their point of view, then differences of opinion are the consequences of having an interest in the ...
Does your system reflect your personality?
Absolutely! I think anything that absords us as hobbies will do become extensions of ourselves. Our component choices are based on a set of criteria that meets our particular needs. Therefore, specific characteristics of the system reveals some as...
360 degree radial speakers and imaging...
I believe with adequate spacing between speakers, left and right channel separation remains consistent with other designs. The potential benefit of omni-directional sources is the ability to create an image which can be palpable from an expanded l...
I need a female jazz vocalist. No Krall, No Norah
Great suggestions already. Some new to me. A few others that I enjoy - Claire Martin "Make This City Ours", Carolyn Leonhart "Steal the Moon" and Lori Lieberman "Home of Whispers".
