Confused about Krell FPB 300 400 200 Amplifiers
Krell continually improved the FPB series over time and the part number evolved along with the improvements to the basic design. There are basically 3 stereo amps and 3 Mono's as follows:Stereo - FPB200,FPB200C,FPB300CX (Transformer 1700VA)Stereo ...
Best Krell amp for a 15amp wall outlet.
Small update, I tried a few different things here. First with my PS Audio P-1200 to the FPB 200C, this cleaned the sound a bit more but made the supply problem worse. Then I temporarely installed my Torus WM100next to the stereo with 6 GA 240 supp...
Audio Research VM 220 versus the VT200
No one has an opinion?
Krell versus Pass Labs
I have been a loyal Krell owner for 20+ years. I currently own a FPB200c, FPB 750 MCX (2) and Krell KCT with Transparent CAST cables. I'm not sure about spending more on Krell and so far with these speakers I'm not finding a lot of synergy? I'm al...
Anyone heard the Krell KCT Preamp?
I would try a pass Labs amp too either X350.5 or the X600.5 mono's.
Krell versus Pass Labs
I'm curious to hear how the ARC250's handle the Diva's? Mine draw a lot of power in the top end, I had to use the X150.5 for a while before I correlated what was going on. The sound of the Magnus is very impressive and real sounding, I have no fau...
Pass xa600.5, Marantz 9S2 or Mcintosh MC501/MC601?
I don't know about the Marantz but as for the Pass Labs versus the McIntosh it's no contest, the pass labs is far superior for me. The pass X600.5 is in a very top class like Vitus or FM acoustics and I think it's the best Pass Labs best amp IMHO.Rob
Anyone heard the Krell KCT Preamp?
If you want to try tubes I would go with Audio Research. I have a KCT and it is exceptionally good the only thing that has turned me on more is the AR 5 SE, it's an amazing preamp. I've always liked the Sonus Faber Elipsa and always thought it wou...
Krell versus Pass Labs
So here's my current situation. I have the KCT which is in mint almost new condition and I do have 2 FPB750MCX amps but one is in need of repair and I have the rare transparent CAST interconnect cables from the source to preamp and to the amps. Th...
Canary Audio Preapms
I have heard the CA900 and CA 906 and I liked them both. The CA 900 had no remote and the CA906 volume is painfully slow. Sound wise the CA906 is awesome, think Audio Research territory and it is capable of that goose bump feeling of reality too. ...
Krell FPB 300cx enough to drive B&W Nautilus 801?
Just an update, sold the B&W 801N's and have some Apogee Calipers (ultimate version) and waiting for my Diva's to be finished (also the Ultimate version, all metal ribbon). Finally found a KCT that was literally brand new and hooked it up, WOW...
Anyone heard the Krell KCT Preamp?
I agree completely I really enjoy and admire Scoutdog's input.I have not heard the FPB compared to the EVO 400 yet back to back but have spoken with several people I trust including Dan himself. One difference Dan explained to me was through hole ...
Krell EVO-1, FPB-750MCX or EVO-900
I would add something here too. Remember all this advice is from different sources and set-ups. One, all krell amps sound better at 220 volts, much better that 117! 2nd comparing the KCT and a fresh new EVO 202 are not the same thing, freshin up t...
Old Krell vs new Krell amps...
This is an old thread but I'd like to add a few comments here. ONE, the quality of the Krell amps sound is very VERY dependent on the supply power, 220 Volts and lots of it is ideal. The amps, any Krells, can sound flat, restricted and edgy on wea...
Anyone heard the Krell KCT Preamp?
I'm a fan of the MONO FPB amps, I have owned several stereo and MONO versions but never the 250m's in particular. To me the MONO amps are easily superior to the stereo amps, you can hear the difference right away back to back. Then again the "X" a...
