Berkeley dac1 versus Esoteric K-03
Owned both Berkeley DAC's. IMO: The "2" was slightly kinder and gentler than the "1". For the money I thought both were very good but preferred the "1" very slightly because of its additional slam factor.Have not heard the Reference.
Fake Audiophiles
A true audiophile uses his ears.A fake audiophile uses his wallet.
Need ST/AT&T cable for metronome set
Wadia used glass cables for years, don't know about their current stuff.
Beryllium Tweeters
Was checking out Beryllium tweeters by Seas and Scanspeak, they retail around $500 each.
You know you're an audiophile if--
Everybody knows, comes from Caesar, Sid Caesar.
The Plangent Process playback system? Huh?
IMO: The new Boss CD set sounds excellent. Not sure how much the Plangent system contributed to that but obviously it didn't hurt.

Ref 3A Dulcets vs Vapor sound
I know you can actually get Reference 3A and Fritz speakers. Can you get the Vapors? (no pun intended)I'm thinking about a 6Moons review that I was waiting for that never happened.
An interesting shift of perspective
Pre-amps from $15 to $350? $350 for the audiophile stuff. Am I going about this the wrong way?
Does the Transport make a significant difference
Just bought a new CD transport for kicks, CEC TL3N. Just thought I'd check it out. My first belt drive top loader, very nice.
What is the best HEAVY METAL speaker?
I would think something with a 15" woofer or two.
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
Neutral is completely hypothetical. It ain't gonna happen.
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
If a system is completely neutral it will sound exactly like the real event. I don't think this will ever happen.
Do prefer a black or silver faceplate?
Silver because it's kinder and gentler. When everything is just right it looks like a thousand points of light.
The sound of my new electrical service: Day 1
I know there's no such thing as break-in so I apologize in advance, but might all these new additions need some "break-in"? Figure the old stuff broke-in for 50 years.
