Berkeley DAC into preamp or amp ?
My Berkeley rarely gets out of the 30s feeding directly into the amp. Any comments?
New FedEx Ground and USPS Arrangement
I was recently notified that a package was shipped DHL and it showed up in my mail box. Not sure how this all works. I was also under the impression that DHL was folding up in the USA.BTW: I think DHL is owned by the German post office. The USPS is...
Vintage speakers from the 70's and 80's
Nyctc7,I checked out that site, deja-vu all over again. Some real nostalgia there. Might need an 8 track some day, never know. Thanks!
More of a Tube Sound In a Tube CD player
You might give the EAR Acute a listen. You can change the sound quality a bit by rolling the tubes. I liked the USA Amperex 7308s and Seimens CCas. Also has balanced outputs and analog volume control.
Do you plan to buy The Beatles CD remasters?
Just curious, has anyone had an advance opportunity to hear any of these remasters?
Do you plan to buy The Beatles CD remasters?
I'm thinking of giving the mono set a shot, then maybe some stereo versions on an individual basis. According to my understanding only 10,000 mono box sets will available.
DACs with volume control ?
I don't want to start any controversy here but may I suggest that the sound quality of the Berkeley surpasses most or all of the DACs discussed so far? Mjmch2003, IMO this DAC hits the price/performance sweet spot. It has volume control [volume on...
Anyone tried Acrolink power cables from Japan ?
Vintagechile,Are you using the Acrolink 6N-P4030 power cable in your experiments? I'm using this with 004 terminations on my power amp, works great. Considered it for my DAC and transport but it's unshielded. Have you had any problems with this?
More reports-How many corrupted CD-R's with time?
Interesting article concerning this subject on enjoythemusic.com under: Boston Audio Society/CD-R Errors--A Worrisome Trend. Actually kind of scary....worth a scan.
USPS Priority Mail
Ckoffend,If you're trying to convince me that UPS, FedEx and DHL employees care more than USPS employees, I'm afraid I'm not buying it. On any given day, any of these services can screw up badly.
Why do digital cables sound different?
I don't necessarily need the "best" but it seems that if the level of induced jitter is the primary criteria for judging digital cables and if this can be measured then these cables should much easier to select. Unlike other cables there would be ...
Why do digital cables sound different?
So may I assume that the less jitter a digital cable induces the "better" that cable will "sound"?Is this induced jitter measurable from cable to cable? Could an absolute "best" be established using the lowest jitter criteria. And if this is true,...
Recommendations for good jazz radio stations
Not a station but a show: Jazz with Bob Parlocha. Excellent jazz program that seems to be carried by various public radio stations around the country.
Why do digital cables sound different?
Original post on 12-01-00: Why do digital cables sound different? After much discussion, may I venture that, as of 07-02-09, the question has not been answered? Could it be possible that no one knows? 8^)
Music and politics
USSR used to have problems with some purely instrumental stuff. Oh those subversive violins and oboes, always causing problems and stirring things up! Or was it the violas? Sort them out in the Gulag!
