Pre amp discussion/ recommendations sub $10k
I am selling my Allnic L-7000 on USAudiomart to move up to the L-8000 DHT.  It is the SE version with 61 step constant impedance attenuator.  It used DHT tubes for voltage regulation.  It has a remote, 2 balanced and 3 single ended inputs.  Allnic...
Advice needed on power cables, wall warts, conditioning, electrical outlet
Electrical is a deep rabbit hole with many benefits. I would try to replace all wall warts or put them on a seperate ac line. I have many PS audio noise harvesters and they do help. I have a PS P10 powerplant, I have all my digital on it.  It l...
Appreciate Some Dac Advice
For 2K the trade in W4S DAC2v2DSDSE is a killer deal.  I much preferred it to my Yggdrasil.  Smoother and more detailed and solid rich low end.  Remote and attenuator I sold my W4S for a Denafrips Terminator.  I agree with using a DDC with Denafr...
Ethernet cable recommendations
@jerrybj  I have a Cat 6 filter, several Cat 7 cables and the ne Cat 7u and then ENO. The new Cat7u is very good.  I prefer not using the ENO with the Cat7u.  It add a sort of artificial airiness with a touch of grit.  It was better with the Cat...
Ethernet cable recommendations
I use SOtM ethernet cables with filters.  Recently added the Cat7u with a special edition set up.  Lowers noise floor.
Line Stage Preamps that blew you away $2500 Edition
I had an Allnic L-4000, dead quiet, holographic, great  low end.
RIP oregonpapa
I will miss his insights.
What's up with Innuos?
Running 2.0.8 for a while with no issues.  There was an earlier version that was glitchy but it was updated pretty quickly and all has been well since.   Sounds night and day better than Roon to me.
Roon Streaming Service actually Degrades the sound
Most folks running Roon cant compare it to something else so they wont know how if affects SQ.  Roon on an Innuos server in Experimental mode easily bests Roon.   My experience is Innuos Sense is much better than Experimental mode, big drop  in ...
Finally Learned: Subs serve much larger role than adding more low bass
Added 2 REL S/5 SHO with their longbow wireless to Maggie 3.7i's.  I don't have to worry about placement except for the AC power, no speaker wires to the subs.  Opens up the soundstage, very clean and detailed bass. The wireless SMPS's are noisy ...
Sonus Faber surprise
FWIW, I found with Maggies that initially they were bright (they even come with resistors to damp the HF.  I did not like the effect of the resistors.  What I found was that I was hearing noise and distortion from AC, cables, and gear.  My Maggie...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
I have an Innuos Statement and as I understand essentially has a Phoenix built in.  Adding an ER was beneficial, as was then adding a SOtM  ngh10.  I agree the EE 8Switch was not as profound as the ER or SOtM but I keep it in the chain as does hel...
Preamp recommendations for my system please
I have an Allnic L7000 SE and have no reservations recommending it.  Used under 10K.
Preamp Opinion
I had a Freya and thought it offered a ton of features for the price but I never liked the sound even after rolling tubes.  I also found it noisy.I had a Decware CSP3 and while it was very simple I really liked the sound, but it was also a bit noi...
Solid state amp to go with tube preamp; used ok; budget: $3k max
I have Pass XA 60.8's with Allnic L-7000 pre amp.  Very smooth and detailed.  I am driving Magnepan 3.7i's with REL subs.  I find the bass quality varies a lot with cables and other gear but it is very clean and detailed also.
