Inputs shorted in 'standby'?
From what I’m reading, I guess that if I want to run a fixed line out to another integrated amp, there’s no guarantee it’ll work when I have the secondary integrated amp in standby - it just completely depends on the particular units that are invo...
Inputs shorted in 'standby'?
Thank you all for your input so far, I appreciate it. Question: Are 'fixed outputs' on integrated amps really just meant for going to a recording device of some kind?  It seems like taking them to an analog input of another integrated amp or rece...
Inputs shorted in 'standby'?
Well, hopefully the M5 didn't get damaged.  I'm not sure what kind of state the 316BEE inputs are in when the 316 is in standby, so I don't know if the M5 output was completely shorted or not.
Inputs shorted in 'standby'?
BTW, Musical Fidelity is telling me that the problem is caused by the NAD's inputs being shorted when the NAD is in standby.  But I'm not convinced that the NAD is actually shorting the input when it's in standby.  I put the question in to the NAD...
Inputs shorted in 'standby'?
Yes, the distortion stops if no ICs are connected to the M5 Line Out.  There is also no distortion of the M5 Line Out is connected to the NAD and the NAD is 'on'.  But if the NAD is in 'standby' then I hear distortion at the speaker outputs of the...
Problems with a new MF M5si
Finally onto something - I was able to get the distortion go to away when I removed the connection to the LINE OUT jacks on the M5si. The LINE OUT was going to an NAD integrated amp that I use for some in-wall speakers in another room.  The NAD w...
Problems with a new MF M5si
Oh well, I was hoping it was be an easy fix but using a different power cord didn't improve things.  I've run the same CD/Blu Ray player and interconnect cables to my AVR, with the AVR pre-outs going to the HT Bypass input in the M5si, and the sou...
Problems with a new MF M5si
hgeifman, thank you for your reply. I did confirm today that when MF tested my unit they used their own power cord, so the power cord that came with my unit could still be an issue. I think I have a spare at home so I'll try it tonight.   They ar...
Pine Tree Audio interconnects
Yes, they seem like a good company do business with so I'm looking at their various single-ended RCA interconnects.  There are a bunch, and I'm sure they are all good products but I'm not sure how I'm going to choose one over the other.  Looking a...
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
Well, Focal-Naim finally did get back to me and confirm it's common ground.  They apologized for the long wait, and the person who originally received my request had told me that their service department was pretty backed up.  Still, this did take...
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
hgeifman, when contacting MF in the past, was it via email? I emailed them at info@musicalfidelity.com and also their 'parent' company at ordersus@focal-naim.com Did you use anything different for making contact with them?
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
Ready to purchase the M5si.  It's been a while since I've bought any gear, so any input on dealer recommendations (or ones to avoid) would be welcome.  Thank you!
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
Hi hgeifman, No, nothing yet from my nearest retailer, unfortunately.  I was hoping maybe they had a better line of communication with Musical Fidelity, but perhaps not. I still think the M5si will be a good fit for me and will likely purchase. ...
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
Already sent a request to that email address back on March 15th. Someone replied and forwarded my message to their service department so they could help me. Nothing back yet, despite me sending a few reminders to both the first address and the ser...
Questions about Musical Fidelity M5si Integrated
Yes, the comments referred to above are ones that I have read, which drove me to bring this up in this forum. I will definitely be using the HT bypass function, but not with a Denon AVR. So I’m not quite sure what to make of this. Sounds like ther...
