Electronic crossover recommendations
I use the Marchand XM-9, and it is available as a two or three way design. It isn't the easyiest one to change frq with, but they may have another model that would allow you to change on the fly. I have been very pleased with their products, and t...
Which is best sub for N802 in fairly large room?
You might want to try a lower crossover point, and a better crossover like the Marchand. Take a look at my system, I am using the Marchand and two 12" subs and love it.
People who are Irrationally Afraid of tube amps
I like the way tubes sound. That is why I bought McIntosh SS. Best of both worlds.
Dylan / Grateful Dead "Postcards of the Hanging"
Not exactly a rare CD.http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006314F/qid=1064877341/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-1468705-0569763?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
Starting out
I was where you are about 18 months ago, and bought the ProJect 1.2. There isn't anything wrong with it per se, but it isn't the greatest source. I need to get a VPI cleaner, I think that would help alot since all my LPs are second hand. Point bei...
Audio cables for older McIntosh equipment?
Wait, you want 200 FEET of cable, and you don't want to spend a fortune? Looks like you will be using Rat Shack wire, not that there is anything wrong with that per se, but your length is going to seriously reduce the number of choices available t...
Review: PS Audio Lambda two Transport
Theaudiotweak - What DAC are you running on yours? How would you compare your digital front end to some of the one box players out there? I'm also not clear what you mean by the stalling, is it a short in a wire?
Review: PS Audio Lambda two Transport
I am wondering if you could post a follow-up. Have you had any mech. problems with your unit?
Which Sub Woofer is good for my 2 channel system
I suggest you consider adding two passive subs and an active crossover. I am running a similar system to yours and would recomend this option. See my system for details.
Tube subwoofers?
There are alot of people using passive horn subs powered by SET amps. Well, maybe not alot, but they are out there. One drawback of this approach is that the horns tend to be rather large and not exactly domestic.
Do You Remember Your First Music Purchase?
My very first purchase would have been the "Best of Stephenwolf" on tape circa 1988(?) I would have been ten years old. I am sure I still have it somewhere, but I don't have a tape player anymore.
Classe "omega" vs Pass Labs X600
I think that Audio Consultants in the Chicago area is a Pass dealer. For this amount of $$, I think it would be worth a day trip/overnight to go up there and see the Pass if you think you like it.
Upgrade for old Dahlquist DQ LP1 Crossover
I use Marchand's excellent (IMHO) XM-9 for my stereo subs. It does have a mono summing switch on it, but I have never used that feature. I find that biamping with passive subs and an electronic x-over is a great advantage. I don't hear any degreda...
Trying to build a near ref. listening room? Help
Not sure if this would work, but if your room is going to be a "room within a room" in the basement, if you could somehow build a small door into the wall behind where the rack is going to be, it would make changing cables sooooo much easier....
Wanted... Advice - Best Speaker for McIntosh Amp
I use a pair of ACI Jaguars (old model, not the new LE) with my MC-202 and love them. Great musical combination. I have also heard the 202 with Thiels (some floor stander, can't remember the model) and 805N B&Ws and thought it worked well with...
