Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
One drawback to the RAID plan is that while it is redundant unto itself, it doesn't protect you from complete data loss in the event of a house catastrophe. The better solution there is an off-site backup, or a fire safe. I don't do cloud.I use an...
USB SQ, what can one expect
Cerrot: You're now making a number of assumptions that I don't feel are contributing to any meaningful conversations. Plus, your obstinance around your opinion of USB does a disservice to others who ARE looking for meaningful advice and superb sou...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I wouldn't recommend putting your music on the main internal drive, CT. (I'm running a Mac Mini with a 4TB external FireWire drive.)First, you'll have contention on the internal drive between system functions and serving up music. How much of a pr...
PS Audio unveils their PS Audio Directstream DAC
DS owner, here.Maintaining multiple versions has been discussed at PS Audio's forum, as a "wouldn't it be nice." Ted Smith, the designer of the DAC, has said that it would be very difficult to do multiple versions due to a lack of... something... ...
USB SQ, what can one expect
Cerrot: "To me, good sound has no boundaries...."That makes little sense to me. You're clearly drawing a boundary, and it lies somewhere between the guts and the anus of your system.
USB SQ, what can one expect
Cerrot: "I can't stand the sound and can't stand how they shoved it down everybodys throat. The USB is a filthy, disgusting place. Iwill check the link."Interesting choice of phrasing. What did USB ever do to you that you should harbor such anger ...
Sonos or Mac as Source?
Agree with Skinzy on the plug. You really can't use the Mini via Remote or Screen Sharing without having an HDMI cheater plug installed on the Mini.I use a Gefen HDMI Detective. Cleaned the lag up perfectly.
PSAudio Direct Stream or Bryston BDA/BDP2?
I went with a DS, and couldn't be happier. It's an amazing DAC. Many people would agree, but certainly not all would.I've heard a lot of good about Empirical Audio's Overdrive SE.
Magnepan 1.7 and Subwoofer help/recommendations
And I'm in support of what Audioconnection says, above.I started right away with the variable crossover. It adds to the expense, but I'm glad I did it as it allows you to play around with the settings to find the best result.I started with the cro...
Magnepan 1.7 and Subwoofer help/recommendations
I'll second Kjweisner's recommendation for the Vandersteen 2wq.I have a pair of them to back up my Magnepan 3.7 speakers, and consider it a great addition. Even though my amp is more than powerful enough to drive the Maggies, rolling off the bass ...
Frustrated with Bonamassa Live CDs
Ahhh, another convert!
Frustrated with Bonamassa Live CDs
Saki70 -- Perhaps that's why Joe is "Always on the Road." Could be his business model.
Frustrated with Bonamassa Live CDs
~I like Chazro's take: "Are you in it for the music or the sound?"We're big JB fans, and see him live every chance we have. His shows are always a good time, but he can rock you back on your heels.I agree that the recordings are not nearly optimal...
Magnepan 3.6R tweeter replacement - Any suggestion
~Mofimadness --Yes, I mistyped. They were 3.3/R speakers, circa 1990 +/-At least that's how I advertised them when selling! :)
Magnepan 3.6R tweeter replacement - Any suggestion
It IS holiday time here in the U.S., so perhaps they've just been busy.At the risk of sounding silly, have you checked the 2.5A fuse for the affected tweeter? I can't tell you how many times I thought I had blown a tweeter (on my old 2.2/Rs), only...
