SME 20/12 with V 12 VS Sme 30/2
Manitunc - The changes to the SME 20 in the Mk3 version are solely those that give it more mass and weight - heavier, thicker chassis, subchassis, and platter. Otherwise it is the same design as the 30/2.
Graham Phantom Supreme?
Bob - Could you please detail the differences between the Phantom, Phantom II, and Phantom Supreme.Thanks. RG
SME owners, what is your table sitting on?

Apocalypse Now?—Technics sp10 problem s
Banquo363 - You are indeed correct. Bill Thalmann at Music Technology can fix just about anything electronic. He has done great work for my equipment. Highly recommended to anyone.
SME 312S versus SME V-12
Mauidj - The Fozgometer is worth its cost. It is quick, easy to use, and very accurate. Anyone that wants to get the azimuth right should have one. I too am interested to see what the Cartright will offer, given its extra cost, when it finally rea...
SME 312S versus SME V-12
Sutherk - I use a ZYX Universe as one of the cartridges with my 312S. I adjust the azimuth with a Fozgometer. I imagine there are few perfectly aligned cartridges not needing some azimuth tweaking, even if minor in degree, regardless of price.
SME 312S versus SME V-12
Mauidj - You can save big cash on either arm by buying it from Southwest Analogue.
SME 312S versus SME V-12
They are very close, if not identical sonically. The advantage of the 312S lies in its ability to quickly change cartridges. You can also adjust azimuth with the 312S, where you can't with the V-12. Check with Albert Porter - he has several 312S a...
To SME or not to SME?
In addition to having a different suspension system compared to the 10, the 20 and 30 have different feet. With the latter tables, one can leave in place the rubber insert pads or remove them exposing the stainless steel balls inside. If one wishe...
To SME or not to SME?
Sksos1 - I beg to differ. I've owned both the Basis Debut Signature Vacuum and the SY7. Sold them. (I've heard the S10 and don't think it is a significant improvement over the S7). Neither measures up to the SME 30/12 with V12 arm - what I own now...
To SME or not to SME?
Sksos1 - "Blackest soundstage and pinpoint imaging but it has no life." No listing of what arms/cartridges were used in that assessment. Could it be that "no life" means that nothing was ADDED to the sound to give it what you consider "life"?
To SME or not to SME?
Sebastienl - The money you save buying from Southwest Analogue may allow you to get the table you want, or even move up from a 30/2 to a 30/12.
To SME or not to SME?
As sure as the day is long, the urge will strike.Suggest you get a 30/2 or 30/12 from Southwest Analogue in the UK. Then you will be done.
SME 20/3 or Oracle Delphi VI or Garrard 301
The 20/3 is an updated version of the 20/2, which is no longer available new. The 20/3 is 23 lbs heavier overall (63 vs. 40). The platter is 4 lbs heavier (14 vs 10). The rest of the weight increase is accounted for in the thicker chassis and subc...
SME 20/3 or Oracle Delphi VI or Garrard 301
Cipherjuris - The mat material on the 20/3 platter is the same as that of the 20/2 platter - just a different color. It is called Isodamp. The manufacturer now only supplies it in the charcoal color to SME.
