Looking for a cd player with analog or digital vol
Audiodynamo,It seems that nobody wants to answer your actual question, which was, "I can think of Theta Miles(750-850) and would love it if somebody knew of one, but what else is there?"I have 2 systems in my listening room, one HT and one 2-chann...
this'll work, right?
It should work, no problem. When you use the analog outputs from the DVD player, you will want to make sure that you set up the DVD player to output a stereo signal, not DD5.1 output. I think this is generally done in the menu for the individual D...
CD transport is making noises....
Are you in the U.S.? My personal experience has been that the U.S. distributor for Arcam, Audiophile Systems, Ltd., are excellent folks and are happy to assist with issues involving their product lines. On two different occassions, ASL Group repai...

Can I introduce a DAC to this??
If it has a digital out (either coax or optical) then you can add a DAC. There are some really good affordable DACs available today. A used MSB Link DAC II or III, Perpetual Tech. P3A, Channel Islands, Birdland Odeon Lite, Scott Nixon, dACK!, etc....
The Best Live album
I really like live recordings! Something about nowhere to hide.......Right now, I really like Eva Cassidy's "Live at Blues Alley". A simply stunning vocal performance!Patricia Barber's "Companion" is really nice. Both the PB and EC disk give you t...
Question about connecting both HT and Stereo
Kray,A couple of things:FIrst, I previously owned the Sony DVD-S9000ES and it wasn't that great for redbook CD playback. Although I did not own them at the same time, I believe my current JVS XV-SA602BK that I bought for $125 on AudiogoN is better...
Question about connecting both HT and Stereo
Kray,My guess is that your Yamaha is more than adequate for surround/center duties. Now, for the 2 channel part! You could go seperates or you could go with a quality integrated amp. There are WAY too many choices for me to recommend just one. Als...
Question about connecting both HT and Stereo
BTW, I would not recommend connecting speaker wires from 2 different systems. The opportunity to cause an electrical failures is too high for my comfort level, especially with expensive gear!TIC
Question about connecting both HT and Stereo
Kray,John is right! Build a high quality 2-channel system first. Then, add an HT receiver or processor to the 2-channel system. If the pre-amp (or integrated amp for that matter) has an HT bypass/Processor loop, so much the better, but it is not n...

Did anybody get a chance to hear the
Buxter,I would highly recommend changing the title of you post to more accurately reflect to purpose of your question. For instance:Lector CD player-Anyone hear it at CES?That way it is obvious what you are looking for without having to open your ...
What was your first music that you paid for?
I started out eclectic! First two purchases I remember were "The Incredible Bongo Band" and The Jackson 5's "ABC".Go figure!TIC
Did you ever just want to simplify?
I've done that! I've used a high-end CD plyer w/ built in volume control connected directly to a pair of small mono-blocks (either solid-state or SET) powering a pair of monitors on lead/sand filled stands. Excellent sound in a moderate sized room...
Best integrated Tube amp as an intro to tubes
Agreed.....The Cayin TA-30 is very good at it's low retail price. I've owned tube integrated amps from more well known companies that didn't come close at twice the price.Enjoy,TIC
