great and small bookshelf speaker-
Bob,Interesting that you say none of the M&K are ported, yet in the specs some mention different frequency response with port open or port closed. BTW, one small M&K was listed as 35 hz bottom end extension with port open and only 80 hz wi...
Sony DVP9000ES as a Redbook Transport?
Chris,I did try one a couple of years ago without much success. At the time I had a couple of well regarded DACs and a couple of good CD players. Both the Theta Miles CD player and the Cary CD-308 used as a transport sounded better than the Sony D...
My system is bright? I need help. thanks
MrT,Did you ever get a listen to the Resolution Audio Opus 21? I don't find it at all fatiguing in my system. Also, I have a neighbor who is a vinyl junkie and a classical composer. He bought the non-Oversampling version of the Consonance 120 CD p...

Cheap DAC with high output voltage
Markxiii,How are you going to be using a DAC only for frequencies below 200hz? What are you going to use for the frequencies above 200hz?Either you're confused about the purpose of a DAC or you've come up with a usage that I've never imagined. And...

Tarsando,I've now read two post were you mention the $159 Digital amp reviewed in Stereophile. I'm not a Stereophile subscriber, so could you please just give the name of the amp? Or are you trying to sell Stereophile Magazine with this teaser?Enj...
Cheap DAC with high output voltage
The ART D-I/O DAC that was hugely popular a couple of years ago had a very high output. I think it was possibly even more than 5 volts. There were lots of mods performed on these too.Enjoy,TIC
some simple questions about cables.
Rotarius,You may want to re-read the first question.Interconnects are usually the low-level cables that carry a signal between source and pre-amp (or source and input to an integrated amp) or between pre-amp and amp.Typically the cables used betwe...
Safe to use cheater plug on CD player??
If you are absolutely sure that the CD player is inducing the hum in your system and you know a cheater plug resolves the issue, you might want to consider removing the ground plug from your hi-end cable. Of course, it will ruin the resell value o...
Why so few turntable reviews?
Not sure if you are aware of ecoustics.com. If not, check it out. It seems to be a central depository of ALL reviews of HT and Audio Products found anywhere on the web. Here is a link to the turntable reviews. You can search, or display all in cro...
60 hz ? low level hum through speakers??????
Do you have cable TV plugged into any of the devices in this system? If so, try removing the Cable TV coax from the system and see if the problem goes away. Ground loops caused by cable TV seem to be a very common theme around here.If it does turn...
Cleaning Amplifier & other gears
A soft cloth lightly dampened with water followed by a soft, dry, lint-free towel for removing the residual moisture and wiping to a bright shine.I've never seen any need to use anything else. Cleaners can sometime do more harm than good.Enjoy,TIC

Your favorite prog rock music? ?
Budgie-BandolierI was a big Budgie fan back in the mid-70's. I never could figure out why they weren't more popular in the US. Bandolier is probably my favorite, followed by Squawk and Never Turn Your Back on a Friend.Enjoy,TIC
Need help with room
You list your electronics, but I didn't see a mention of the speakers you are using. Since it is your speaker/room interaction that is likely the issue, it might be helpful to know what speakers.TIC
