Is a Quad 44/ 405-2 amp tube sounding?
Hlgoh2006,Welcome to AudiogoN! One of the great benefits of this site is that you can buy a used product for a good price, try it in your own system for a while and re-sell it if you don't love it. I've done this often and typically it only cost m...
Is There Greener Grass For Me?
yanx,I don't know anything about the TXSV515Pro, but I would guess that it is an older pro-logic unit based on age. That said, a good modern HT receiver, integrated or separates is going to be a considerable step forward. Your front-rear seperatio...
HBO copy protects it shows.
You may be able to copy off of the analog output of your cable/satellite box or off of the analog output of the TV.
Digital vs Analog output on CD players
Pdn,When you connect via a digital cable, the digital to analog conversion is performed in the receiver. When connected via analog interconnects, the digital to analog conversion is performed in the CD player. Really it is going to come down to a ...
Too much Glare on my TV
I have a 42" Panny Plasma with smooth glass and a 37" Viewsonic LCD with the non smooth face. The Panny has a lot of glare, even in my basement. The Viewsonic LCD in the livingroom shows no glare and there are 2 large windows in the room.TIC
Funny noise from Tube system
Depending on your listening habits, you could be well over 3000 hours on the pre-amp tubes since 2001. 10 hours per week for 6 years = 3120 hours of on time. 20 hours per week for 6 years is 6240 hours and 30 hours of on/listening time per week is...

PC audio is it the best next thing????
I haven't yet jumped on the PC audio bandwagon, however, I think it is the near future for both music lovers and audiophiles.Let's face it, most music sold over the last 20 years is in a digital format. If you can get it all stored in one tiny spa...
Placement of Paradigm SA-35 inwall speakers
How high is the ceiling? You may have boomy bass if you get the woofer too close to the ceiling. I'm guessing the speaker is symetrical, so you can try it both ways without changing the cutout size/shape. See which position sounds better to you......
Surround Speaker Confusion with Denon Receiver
I had a Denon AVR-3300 years ago. As I remember it, it was a 5.1 channel receiver, so the additional surround speakers likely just receive the same signal as the other pair of surround speakers.I would check the manual to verify....TIC
Any 5.1 processor with integrated 3 ch amp
I have not heard this receiver, but the Harmon Kardon DPR1005 is one of the new, smaller "digital" amplifier based HT receivers and it has pre-outs. It is only 4.5" tall. However, it only has 70 w/channel, so I don't know if it has enough power fo...
lucinda williams live
ThomasE,I too saw Lucinda in 2003 on the front row, against the barrier at Cincinnati's awesome Tall Stacks Festival. It was one of the best shows of my life, and I've seen a lot of shows.....The show started out a bit odd, with Lucinda actually s...
Any 5.1 processor with integrated 3 ch amp
I had a couple of older Sony DB and ES receivers and they were fine. The remotes are a bit quirky, but workable. Build quality and sonics were good. Setup was slightly more difficult than some of my other receivers, but once I got the hang of it, ...
Any 5.1 processor with integrated 3 ch amp
I would look for a receiver that has the following:5.1 channels of amplification (at least)pre-outs for all channelsDolby Digital 5.1 and DTS, plus DPL-II(great for VHS & TV)Because of the release date of DPL-II, you may need to look at 6.1 or...
