Which Phono Preamp for my System???? You do not need to spend $800 to get a nice cartridge for the axis. Vwood is nice but get a better phono amp and a nice cartridge. Dynavector 10X5 380 and the p75 595 - only $200 more than the v wood.
Which Phono Preamp for my System???? If your into vinyl to stay you will eventually get a little better cartridge. I would recommend the Dynavector p75. More $s than your other choices but not crazy money 595 new. You have nicce equipment and might even get a better table. The p75 co...
Donald Fagen's Nightfly - Love it or Hate it? I bought the LP when this it was first released and thought it was a great recording, sonically and musically. Now I still like the music but do not like the very digital sound. One of the earliest digital albums. Love the optimism of IGY
What speakers are you guys driving your BAT's with Wilson Benesch ARC driven by a 75se. This amp can drive difficult speakers but i would stay with speakers with a fairly flat impedance curve not dipping below 4 ohms. The WB are nominal 6 ohms and I think overall a great speaker. All the WB for th...
Shunyata hydra 8 wich outlets with Tact amps? There isn't anything different between the left four and right four outlets (even though one side is labeled digital)The best isolation is separated between the left and right quads. BI-Wire Or Full Range Speaker cables First you are definitely on track with trying AQ cables especially DBS.. with that...I would not use jumpers but instead...CV8 is in the circular array series and should not be single bi-wired. In this price range definitely Rockefeller, it is mad...

Japanese Mini-LP Obi CD's -- Audiophile Quality? I recently received a Music Direct e-mail newsletter with a sale on allot of Japanese mini lp cds. As mentioned earlier I think some will sound better but I also think you need to value the packaging and collectability. http://www.musicdirect.com/...
Question about shunyata Taipans and copperheads. I would agree with Samuels assessment. There were two versions of the original Taipan the first silver over copper, the later copper. The later version was tonally more neutral and overall better. I do not know how you physically can tell the diff...

tonearm cable I use the AQ LeoPard on my Ittok. You really need to try it. It sounds great. The DBS is a winner for this application. I know AQ had Linn in mind when designing this cable.

Whats the best MC cartridge for my new VPI SCOUT? I would not recommend a high compliance cartridge like a grado. The shelter works ok even though it is high compliant. you did not mention how much gain your phono amp has. Is it MM only? Cartridges I like (Lyra Dorian)detailed but not too much, B...
Best cheaper alternative to McCormack UDP-1? I understand that the 9600 has improved video but the audio is the same as the 9500. I have listend to the 9500 extensively. It is a fine sounding player on all formats. |
