Tuntable not working with wood floors..Help Such complicated solutions!Go to a place that sells marble and granite countertops, and get a slab that they cut out for a sink in a kitchen. Get a nice thick one -- 1.5 or 2 inches. If where you are is anywhere like here (Portland Oregon) you'll ...

Is it Audio, or is it Art? It's audio -- at best. IMO, except for speakers, it works hard to be anything less than ugly. It's all just metal in boxes. I have nice gear (like a Cary SLP-05, Rowland monos, etc) but it's all ugly as hell compared to the custom woodworked Japan...
Anyone know about ADS M15 Loudspeakers I had a pair quite a few years back...bought in 1991 and sold in 1997. They were great. But I would not pay more than about $300 for a pair in excellent shape. Their woofers aren't long throw so their bass response is good but limited. They aren't...
Looking For Single Source Tube Preamp If you have a preamp now or if you have a volume control on the cd, you can get a Musical Fidelity unit that has nothing but a tube buffer. (I forget what it's called.) You can put it anywhere in the signal chain.
Do they make Speakers For Rap/Rock I had a pair of Hales Revelation 3's that could rock really hard. My current Aerial 9's do as well. I have a REL Storm III sub that I turn on when I want to pressurize the room.A pair of Soliloquy 5.0's and a small sub worked wonders for me a few ...
Do Audiophiles really like music? Do people with good stereos like music? Of course. The real question is whether they like music more than they like equipment. One of the major problems in evaluating which they like better is that there is more good gear coming out than good music...
Do I want a sub with VR-4jr's? I have Aerial 9's -- rated to 29hz and I have a REL sub set at about 28hz. I mostly leave it off but once in a while when listening to music (especially at low volumes, but also during rowdier moments) and always during films, I like it a lot.
12K new/used to spend I'm still glad I chose Aerial 9's over Sophias. I saw a black pair on the 'Gon for around 6K. Mine are stunning in Rosewood and with the dedicated stands, were 10,200 new, full retail. I think they are spectacular.Rest of gear?Cary SLP-05 (the new...
Preamp choice I owned a 4B and 7B's for nearly 10 years (upgraded to Rowland 2 years ago). I had great success with, in order:Sonic Frontiers SFL-1Melos SHA-GoldRogue 99 (non Magnum, later upgraded to Magnum)But I think if I were in the market now, and I still ...
Speakers That Will Party Hard I'd go looking for a pair of Soliloquy 5.0's and hang them. They are small and can go wicked loud while still sounding great.R
Anyone listened to Aerial 9's? I own the 9's, running with Rowland 201's and Aesthetix Calypso. They are really great. I wasn't a big fan of Aerial prior to the new line, but now I can't say enough good things.Music? Everything from folk to chamber to jazz to world, but lots of...

Magnepan3.6 placement I had my 3.6's in a similar situation. They sounded great. Keep them away from walls, but ceiling height is irrelevant.Rich |
