DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point I’ve been in love with my Berkeley version two. They have had out of version three for a while but the guys at Berkeley tell me it’s pretty tough to tell the difference. I just listen to the Macintosh DA2 and I can’t believe it but I like it bette...
McIntosh Amp mix with off brand pre That’s not a Mac model. A 452 is an awesome amp. You’ll love it. I have all Mac stuff, except for speakers. They make excellent equipment. The stuff hold it’s value. I buy and sell pieces all the time and rarely lose money. How many brands do you ...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps? So explain to me why there are amps they sold in the 1980s for $500 new and are selling today on eBay for $4000. I’ve been buying and selling their stuff now for two years and I’ve never lost money I’ve only made money on it. I’ve been buying my s...

Stereo Preamp suggestion Mcintosh has “passthru” on many of their preamp‘s. I’ve owned the C1000 and the C8. Both of work flawlessly
If there’s an audiophile exit ramp, this ain’t it… Redwood audio, i’ve been sober for about 26 years now and you guys joke through this thread about addiction but you’re not far off. Watch this little short video about addiction the little yellow object is the stereo. It says a lot about how ma...
Is it ever enough? What a great thread. I feel like I’m listening to comments at an alcoholics anonymous meeting. I’ve been in those church basementsfor 25 years and there’s more that audio files and alcoholics share in common than they don’t. Lol
Is it ever enough? My main hobby used to be mountain biking. Until A unfortunate accident four years ago turn me into a quadriplegic. Audio has replaced mountain biking for me. When you look at mountain biking as a hobby you have the equipment, which would be the bi...

Bi Wiring Speakers from Luxman L-509X If you really want to notice a difference, spend less money on cables and put that money towards another amp …. And Bi-amp the speakers. I run a solid-state amp for the low end and a tube amp for the mid and highs. You get the best of both worlds!
What process do you use to purchase cables? If I have 3’ interconnects that make my system sound nice and warm….if I reorder a 9’ set of the same model does that mean my system will sound 3 times as warm?
Klipsch Forte ii too bright, or is it my room ? I think #holmz nailed it.
What process do you use to purchase cables? Me too, thanks for stepping up
What process do you use to purchase cables? There’s no need for any of this confusion. Buy a reasonably priced well constructed set of cables and a preamp that has tone controls. Our forefathers who designed equipment in the past recognized I need to be able to adjust what we listen to beca... |
