Review: Audience AR12-TSS Power Conditioner
Come on Guiy - you've had nearly a year to decide what you think of your aR12-TSS. "Worth the money" is of course a purely personal-cum-financial decision - but did what you heard reflect the Review ?I came across this review just yesterday when I...
VPI 10.5i counterweights ..umm.. weights
Mcbuddah - thanks. I have a Cartridgeman Isolator which I use elsewhere with his MusicMaker 3 cartridge. The two reasons I don't want to use it for the Lyra Dorian is (1) I wish to keep the same/similar VTA setting as for the Lyra Skala on the othe...
VPI 10.5i counterweights ..umm.. weights
Thanks Stringreen. I'll send them an email.I went via Agon first as VPI are usually so busy it takes a while to get a reply - and maybe someone already had their recommendation.
VPI 3D & 10.5i armwand compatibility
VPI - thanks for that. I'll wait.I decided to send my queries to Agon rather than directly to you guys because I know you are busy and usually take a while to respond.HOWEVER - you may also have seen my counterweight weights thread (started same d...
VPI 10.5i counterweights ..umm.. weights
Thanks both.Jmcgrogan2Counterweight as far in as possible still needs head-shell weight. It's then back about a centimeter.. Sarcher30VTF adjustment bolt is jammed in ! and always has been. I live with it rather than risking using too much torque....
Hunting down a HUM
Today I only had time to run an earth to the pre-amp (no difference) and try to wrap the phono cables in an RFI shield (no difference). I'll try more as soon as I can.Moving the phono stage away from the pre-amp (thanks Hevac1) is, relatively spea...
Hunting down a HUM
Thanks Bill_k and Sarcher30. I'll try those suggestions Wednesday and report back. The thing that most puzzles me is the hum continuing after the externel phono stage is turned off. How can this be ? The question probably underlines my lack of know...
buyer beware do not buy from this seller
Woo999 - did you initiate a formal Dispute through Audiogon? If so, what happened ? Particularly - what did Audiogon advise you do if (I guess) the seller refused to submit to the Agon dispute process ?If you didn't launch a dispute - why not ?
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
HiendmuseI do agree it looks like I'm overanalyzing this. But, viewed in the context of my last four years of various hair-tearing struggles with Rim Drive - returning each time to belt drive until I built up the will to try again - I've now decid...
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
Stock feet on SSM allowed the deck to move a little because they do, therefore Bearpaws or similar were preferred because it kept the deck absolutely rigid.Slightly confusingly, similar rigidity was variously recommended for the motor unit. Howeve...
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
HiendmuseThanks. That'll do for me.What's your thinking on rigidity of deck and rigidity of motor for Belt drive as opposed to Rim ? I can imagine the belts have enough 'give' to prefer/allow all else to be rigid.
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
MoonguyI haven't tried alternatives to the Symposium Ultra platform. I'm very happy with it - as are a number of others discussing VPI. Idon't feel the need to try anything else and buy in to their coupling vs decoupling logic (hence why I've chan...
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
Hiendmuse (this is necessarily verbose, please bear with me)Firstly.OK - a Symposium PC under each of the two narrow ends of the motor assembly is what I suspected you meant. My thought about using 3 PCs was mainly to increase stability and reduce...
VPI Rim Drive vibrations
I've only just come to this exchange - so you may all have gone away by now...I've read it all because it addresses many of the problems I've had with rim drive - and I'll try the suggestions, particularly Stringreen, Thanks. One thing I don't unde...
Phono leads, cartridge internal impedance, life++
I think the only thing to be done now is humanely terminate this thread rather than let it suffer any longer.I thought impedance matching might be up there on the audiophile worry list - but it seems not. David Berning's latest ZOTL amps cleverly ...
