Outlaw sound
A characteristic sound ... I don't know, but I can talk about the RR2150. I find it a very clear and smooth sounding receiver. I have used it with NHT SB2 and Rega Ara speakers. It sounded great with both sets of speakers. The whole time that I ha...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
A few years back I had a NAD C320BEE amp paired with a Pioneer PD65 CD player. I swapped out the Pioneer with a Music Hall CD25. The difference was very noticeable and I liked the difference very much. It's all about synergy. At the time this is w...
What could this be Tube Failure
From the Upscale Audio Technical Help section: Some of my power tubes have this eerie blue glow on the glass. Is that normal?Yes, that is normal for power tubes. That blue glow is just stray electrons bouncing off the glass. Some tubes will have a...
What is the story with Rega Appolo?
I liked the Music Hall for the 2+ years that I owned it. I used it with a NAD C320BEE and I felt that the combination had great synergy. When I upgraded the NAD to a Prima Luna (ss to tubes), I gave the Music Hall to a friend. The Music Hall was d...
What is the story with Rega Appolo?
Alex:If GST/VAT is an issue, consider the Music Hall 25.2 CD player. A $600 player that beats most players in the sub $1000 category.Regards, Rich
any thoughts
That's quite a bedroom system! Will you be sitting in a chair or laying down in bed when you listen? Do you see yourself listening a lot to the bedroom system? How loud do you listen/ will you be disturbing others who may be sleeping? Will you be ...
Sonus Faber and Haydn Grand
You can also try something like the similar sounding and priced Opera Mezza. I have been using the Opera Plateas (small floorstanders) for about 6 months now with a Prima Luna tube amp and they sound quite good with most music. Regards, Rich
What is the story with Rega Appolo?
I am very satisfied with the Rega Apollo and this is after a year and a half of ownership. I have used the Apollo in the same system with a SONY SCD555ES sacd player (an A rated Stereophile player) and have AB'd the two players on occasion and the...
tube amp / ss preamp configuration?
The traditional tube preamp/ss power amp set-up allows you to have more driving power for your speakers, as well as adding tube warmth to the overall sound. But, there is no reason why you can not do it the other way around. That is the set-up tha...

young and new to analog update
My guess is that it is a JVC LA100. A very popular, entry level turntable going back about 25 years ago. You can pick up a basic Audio Technica or Shure cartridge for about $40 and you should be good to go.Regards, Rich
Cambridge Audio or Outlaw Audio?
You could go with an Outlaw RR2150 ($650 new) and go with a 2.1 set-up (front speakers and a sub-woofer). I have been doing this for 2 years in a bedroom system set-up. The associated equipment is a Cambridge Audio Azur 540 DVD player and Rega Ara...
Integrated Amp Bargains with good balanced sound?
Hi Dkzzzz:The outboard phono stage would go through any other aux line input on your amplifier. The input is no different than the one used by a tape deck or cd player.Regards, Rich
Integrated Amp Bargains with good balanced sound?
Another option is the Outlaw RR2150 2 channel receiver new at $650. I use it with Rega Ara speakers (now R1) and a Cambridge Audio Azur 540 CD/DVD/DVD-A player. Sweet system and good quality amplification. Regards, Rich
tube intergrated for NHT classic 2
I used a Prima Luna Prologue 2 for about a year and loved the Prima Luna and NHT combination. I was using the older NHT SB2 and felt that the sound was almost 3D like. The speakers were shelf mounted and used in a room that was 10x15x8.5. I only l...
