Integrated used as Preamp?
The MF A3 that I had did not have a preamp out. See this thread from 2004. Don't mean to disagree with MF's web site, but it is why I wound up trading the A3 integrated for the A300 power amp, after I purchased the CD PRE 24.With that said, a CD...
Integrated used as Preamp?
The part of the question that was not asked. If you go with an MF integrated, just make sure that the integrated has a preamp out. Not all MF A3's had a preamp out. I found out the hard way.FWIW, MF standalone preamps are superior to the preamp se...
Quick question about PrimaLuna Prologue Two
I did replace the 12AX7 and 12AU7 with NOS Mullard and Sylvania as per Kevin Deal's recommendation for the PL2. For the PL5, I went with new production Groove Tube 12AX7 and EH 12AU7. I like both set-ups.Regards, Rich
Quick question about PrimaLuna Prologue Two
Admittedly, I purchased the PL2 without benefit of an audition. At the time, the price difference between the PL1 and PL2 was on the order of $200 or so and I figured that the upgrades were worth a relatively nominal sum. I use EL 34's in both my ...

Teac still makes a couple . Designed to record the LP onto CD, so you don't have to bother with the LP. Can not comment on their sound or reliability.Regards, Rich

Estate Sale Find
These speakers were a Stereophile Class A or Class B speaker in the late 1990's. I believe that they were a $3000 speaker. In 2000, Accessories4less became a popular internet reseller as they were a liquidator for Acoustic Research speaker stock...

tube burnout
How long do you allow your pre to warm up before you start listening? I was running through tubes (6550 & KT88) in my Prima Luna amps at an alarming rate, until I started to let the amps warm up for a half hour or so. Regards, Rich
Best Budget 2 Channel?? Music Hall a25.2 or Outlaw
I use the Outlaw in a bedroom system with a Cambridge Audio Azur 540 DVD player and Rega Ara monitors. I went with the Outlaw because I needed a tuner in the system. The tuner is very quiet and sensitive. With that said, the Outlaw has an excellen...
Newbie amp help......why?
It sounds like your question may be ... why do I need a separate amp, if I already have a receiver? The answer is that you don't. If you like the music that it is coming from your present set-up, don't change a thing. The parts of the reproduction...
Short history on legacy speakers
The Grandaddy of them all ... the Acoustic Research 3AR-3In 1958, AR once again pioneered in loudspeaker technology with the introduction of the landmark model AR-3, which used the AR-1’s acoustic-suspension woofer in conjunction with the first co...

My Sunday morning musings as Rigoletto plays on System #2 (Prima Luna tube integrated, Rega Apollo CD player, Castle Isis monitors)There are a lot of variables involved from what you listen to, to how loud you listen to it, to how your room is set...
EVA CASSIDY
What makes Eva Cassidy stand out, in addition to her strong, pure voice, is her operatic like presentation. To hear an example of what I am referring to, listen to the female aria/ duet in "O Terra Addio" from Aida (Placido Domingo, Greatest Artis...
