Ceramic cartridge phono stage options?
Testing my memory from working with my dad in his repair shop some 50 plus years ago.   First you need to acquire a ceramic cartridge.  Not being funny with you. Ceramic cartridges, also referred to as crystals or pick-ups,  were on the least ex...
Ozzie Ozbourne is Dead
I was 13 when the first Black Sabbath album was released and the uproar (yes uproar) that that caused. I remember letters to the editor of 'Hit Parader' magazine debating if their music was too dangerous for 13 year-olds.   And here we are, honori...
I can't believe I found one
Glad you are happy with it.  Enjoy it.   I started out with a SONY HP 161 compact stereo back in 1970.  My dad had a repair shop in Brooklyn and scored a dealer's discount from All Brand Appliances in LIC, so I paid $125 for a $200 stereo. Ele...

Need help choosing speakers for Outlaw Audio receiver
I have the Outlaw RR2150 in use for the last 18 or so years (bedroom system).  Used with either Omega or Wharfedale speakers,  Have been using the Wharfedale Dentons (80th anniversary) for the last 8 years. Very likeable speakers.   https://w...
Zu Audio Union 6 Supreme
@karl_desch   Congratulations!  The Zu's  are something else aren't they?  So if you can, just sit back for the rest of the year and enjoy what you have assembled.   Be well,  Rich
Genesis
I discovered 1) Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (Genesis); 2) Country Life (Roxy Music) and 3) El Dorado (ELO) all at the same time I purchased my first new stereo system, a SONY HP 161 phono compact.   These albums will always be favorites. Rich
OT: Espresso machines
Some laughs.  Just for my morning cup of coffee;  here's what I use.  Going on 6 years now.  And yes, I know it doesn't make espresso, but as drip coffee makers go, worth every penny of the $20 I spent on it.
Re; Dynamics, Class D vs tubes…
OP's question ...  Class D amplification vs tube amplification, which is likely to be more dynamic at lower volume playback?  And here I am thinking that enjoyment relative to lower volume playback is speaker dependent.  What do I know?  I do...
What are some quality bookshelf speakers that can actually be used on a bookshelf?
The speakers are not the problem, where you have the speakers placed is the problem.  No traditional bookshelf speaker is going to help you here, so stop fussing about it and save your money. The speakers are 'up in the air' relative to your sitt...
Willsenton vs Billie MK 1
@troutbum - Hi, I don't stream - just records and CDs.  Podcasts and YouTube and the like are through my laptops. I had read that the Node was fairly basic, not bad, just basic.  No field experience though. I am getting similar vibes as I must g...
Willsenton vs Billie MK 1
@troutbum - I really can't fault the Billie, as I realize that my speaker placement is what is causing my dissatisfaction.  I have the Golden Ear BRXs sitting on top of bookcases that are about 5' high.  Speakers sound fine, but only so.  I am not...
I2s cable not working with my DAC
I had  a similar experience as @Baylinor with my PS Audio SACD transport and Gustard DAC.  Wound up going the path of least resistance and selling the Gustard and buying a PSA DAC.  PSA customer support was extremely helpful, worked with Paul him...
Willsenton vs Billie MK 1
@troutbum - What are your feelings about the Billie amp and why do you want to change?   I have had the Billie Mk2 in service for the last 2 years.  Driving Golden Ear BRX monitors.  It sounds good, not great. Curious to your comments. Rich
