how did you find "the gon" I bought an obscure cable nobody heard out of a local dealer ´used-cable-box´. Cable looked seroius and got it dirt cheap.Since noboby knew what it was I made a search on the web. ´Audiogon´ came out on top. Good thing.
Speaker cable length for L/R channels critical? Pabelson - Yes, I know our ears capability. Explain how come man can tell difference between a tweeter rolling off at 22Khz and a tweeter rolling off at 33Khz, when we should not be able to. All the music reproduction industry is barking up the wr...
Speaker cable length for L/R channels critical? Regarding that man is not equipt to ´hear´ if L/R speakercables are of different lenght with potential phase and coloration errors - It was a fact a few years ago that we couldn´t hear much over 20Khz as well. Speakers and sound reproduction mediu...
XLR, RCA or BNC? Eldartford.Ok. Bad choice of words. What I meant was the same as you describe. ´Electric bump´. Thought it was a simple way to picture a difficult thing. If measured in Oscilloscope cables and any measured signal path will leave a trace in the sha...
XLR, RCA or BNC? Hmm.I believe this can go on for a while. And I see a lot of the arguments me and my friend where having. The thing is that a/most RCA does an electric ´bump´ as it transfers the signal. The BNC does not, or at least has a lesser ´bump´, according...
XLR, RCA or BNC? Sugarbrie. Ok, on paper, perhaps. I know they all differ in lab measurements, but if I say in a sonic performence?Ok, let´s say ST Glass is best ( not ´probably´ best, but best ) for digital. How about for Analog then? Thanks,
XLR, RCA or BNC? I´m not searching to buy new gear - settled as is. Me and my friend was just talking about what would be the best termination, as different manufacturers and brands has their ´favorits´ in connections. We have no chance in trying them all ourselve...
Coaxial or fiber optic i/c for Dolby Digital? My experience tell that the coax always take the trofé. I have not heard a optic beat a coax in sound reproduction ( I´m talking sane comparisons ). An optic in same pricerange as coax has really no chance. Less ´musical´ is the proper word. Regards
Universal Players that do not convert DSD to PCM? I think the Marantz DV8300 and up, does no such thing. Convert, that is. But, if you really wanna get a pure answer - email the manufacturer or email the construction designer of a product you fancy. They are mostly happy to talk about, and help s...
Best Digital Cable, Regardless of Price.... The PAD Dominus Ferox-version, is my choice.About the length of digital cables. Some cable-makers say that because of the speed of the electric information/signal passing through a digital cable, the cable will not COLOUR the sound unless it is 1....
What do you put underneath floorstanding speakers? Spikes sends the energy from the speakers right down in to the floor. A good thing - as it´s helps getting a better grip on the speaker cones. A bad thing if you have a neighbour or someone in an apartment below, as soundwaves will be picked up by...
plauged by off center image, am I insane? We are truly many who have had this experience with recordings. But to make a list it can be caused by:1. Difference in components output ( the ear is a tricky thing to fool, and we can tell when there is a differnce in volume right and left, righ...
Purist Audio System Enhancer CD Very helpfull when burning in cables. I would certainly recommend it. I usually say that one can do a couple of turns with the System Enhancer + 30h of real music to ( almost )fully break in a cable. Speakers I can not tell - have not done that. O... |
