Ripping CD's to hard drive
@kota1 Thank you for the Sony suggestion. I just started re-ripping my CD’s to new 1TB Samsung SS drive ($64 on Amazon) into my my Bluesound Node 2i. The Sony rips FLAC @950kbps constant rate and halves the file size. I stupidly downloaded and...
2023 Florida Audio Expo Show Report
@snapsc  Thank you for the kind comments about our room with Soundfield Audio & Triode Labs. Our success at the show would not have been possible without their support.   Cheers, Joe

PS Audio Stellar Phono
I just bought a 2nd hand PS Audio Stellar Phono and was blown away. Compared to my MoFi StudioPhono (which is the best under $1k Phono Preamp around), the Stellar blew it away by a country mile. Understand though there are price points that each d...
Amazon music vs Qobuz
I've used AmazonHD and compared to Qobuz using a Bluesound Node 2i into a PS Audio DirectSream DAC Sr. (coaxial and optical) and there is no difference whatsover between the two services when played back BitPerfect.. I did a comparison video last...
Ditching Class A Amps due to Heat - Sort of a Poll
While I'm all for Climate Change and have the Asthma lungs to prove that it's (I grew up in a Steeltown). My setup is kind of an Oxymoron (?). BATVK50-SE with 8 6H30 tubes and she gets very hot not long after it's turned on. The BA Preamp feeds a ...
Active Speakers Better? No, per Michael Borresen
My problem with active speaker designs is that they are not user serviceable after the warranty runs out. You cannot adapt the sound of the Speakers to your own taste either. Plate Amplifiers won't last twenty years without dying to my knowledge....
5 Dumb Things Audiophiles Believes.
I know Ron personally and he has helped my YouTube Channel when he lived here in Phoenix, Arizona (I’ve mentioned this before). We used to talk/text  a lot and while I don’t agree with a lot of what he says. We have for most part agreed on certain...
Thoughts about the "Cheapaudioman" on YouTube
In all honesty, Randy has surpassed 100,000 Subscribers in just over a year of being a YouTuber. Ron helped him out A LOT in the beginning and they are still friends. Ron’s helped my channel too when he was still here in AZ. I don’t like how he p...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
I agree with @grannyring . Class D GaN FET (Orchard Audio Ultra) is the future and all Tube, Class A, Class A/B Amplifiers are antiquated Dinosaurs ! But a high quality DAC (PS Audio DirectStream Sr.) and a highly resolving Tube Preamp )BAT VK-50S...
Unofficial Orchard Audio StarKrimson Ultra Amplifier Owners
Update after one year with Hypex SMPS 1200 Power Supply version. I’ve gone ahead and ordered and installed 5 Rev.3 Ultra Amplifier modules from Orchard’s website and a 1500VAC Toroidal Power Supply from Antek. This is the Quietest Amplifier I hav...
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
So why fiber at all? Copper Ethernet cabling has limited range, 100ft is a safe bet, but depends on speed and cable standard.    but fiber for super short runs like 5ft is crazy waste of money. 100% agree. And I work in the IT Industry. I ha...
Which sounds better: I2S or Coax.
I used a Sony UBP-X1000ES with the Chinese HDMI Video to I2S HDMI adapters from China with excellent results.
Hint:  Change your Wi-Fi frequency to avoid interference with neighbors router
Get off of 2.4GHz ! Use the 5GHz channels and see if you can select Ch’s other than 36 and 165 (basically whatever you have selectable in between). Most of the time (no scanner needed), these channels aren’t used in consumer WiFi equipment and pe...
