Controlling iTunes on a MacMini from a MacBook I use an ancient iBook (Clamshell...or as I refer to it, the Toilet Seat)laptop as a remote for my MacMini. I use remote accessing software called Timbuktu. The Timbuktu creates a desktop window for the Mini on my laptop. This is a software I've s...
AIFF vs Apple Lossless Ripping Herman said:Some people claim they can hear a difference and attribute this to the process of decoding the lossless file as the music is playing. I agree you should convert some and give it a listen to decide whether it is worth the effort.Thanks,...
AIFF vs Apple Lossless Ripping Sidssp,I was under the impression that ripping a cd into AIFF results in a larger data file (more information), than ripping a cd into Lossless. Smaller file, less information, despite the Lossless name.I wasn't sure I understood why you would wan...
AIFF vs Apple Lossless Ripping Restock,Probably no theoretical advantage in converting Lossless to AIFF, as the source material done first in AIFF would be a larger file (more "information", audible or not).If the missing data made a difference I could hear (an improvement), I'...
AIFF vs Apple Lossless Ripping Thanks, Onhwy61. I thought I had researched this several years ago, and the prevailing opinion seemed to be no aural difference. I probably have the storage space available.....but it took me about 3 months to re-rip the last time I did, eliminati...
"Internet Radio" Suggestions Please? Altho dated, check out the thread titled "Internet Radio Stations That Sound Really Good" in this PC Audio section (use the search function). I still find it quite useful today, tho the focus of the responses is slightly different than your questi...
iTunes: dynamics, midrange gone 'til restarted Not sure how practical it's been, but it's interesting reading. My experience so far has been this: The MIDI Pref window will allow me to set the Properties for the Builtin (Audio) Output to 96hz 2-channel-24 bit (my rig is a 2 channel setup). But w...
iTunes: dynamics, midrange gone 'til restarted Elf73, I have my Mini "hardwired" to the DAC with a USB cable, probably as you deduced. I wonder if reconnecting the Airport changes a setting or such in the iTunes program? If I restart the iTunes, everything is ok. I probably should report this ...
iTunes: dynamics, midrange gone 'til restarted I haven't configured the MIDI settings in any way. I'm using the Mac's output as the front end for my 2 channel stereo system. It appeared that the only thing I might want to configure would be the audio output, and it's already set for 2 channel ...
Subwoofer budget max $700: new vs used, brand? Long story short, I did not buy the Velodyne Dls-5000r.At Larryski2's suggestion, I checked out the Outlaw line, and went with an LFM-1 EX.I'm pleased with my integration efforts and very happy with the product. The Outlaw folks were great to work...
Equipment failure with Dakiom tweaks? I think I agree with you, a bucktwoeighty. But, so far, no one has told me that they think these tweaks have trashed any of their equipment in a significant way. Application failures, yes, hardware failures, well, no, (other than potentially mine)...
Equipment failure with Dakiom tweaks? I agree with your brother, as I've experienced a sonic improvement with them.I just added a Cambridge DacMagic into my system, and when I contacted Cambridge to make sure there wasn't a compatibility issue, it was strongly suggested to me that I d...
Subwoofer budget max $700: new vs used, brand? Marty, Bob, Tgrisham, Ghstudio: Great feedback. This is the kind of feedback I needed. I would have take-away information from these exchanges, no matter what my purchase decision. I've used subwoofer's in my sound systems since the mid 80's, and ...
Subwoofer budget max $700: new vs used, brand? Marty, thanks for your thoughtful response. It's caught me off guard. You're saying that integration is the priority and that a trade off in the speaker (at my price point) could be considered. Do you think this is the best approach for a room tha...
NAS Storage Jamesw20, interesting question. I haven't tried. The Rhapsody website lists the system requirements as specifying Windows OS of some kind, with no mention of Mac.Unless there's a work around I'm unaware of, I think the answer is no. Sorry about that! |
