Getting larger listening space is most impactful. I do not spend any significant money to upgrade audio components. My mathematical calculation: Upgrade audio --- from $5,000 to $10,000 --> maybe 5 - 10% up, not 100% Larger room/higher ceili...
CD's or Vinyl?
People who don't have experienced actual concert (classic, jazz, pop, whatever) usually say that analog (vinyl) is better or true to the music. I know why. Except some cases of very high end analog system and LPs with highest quality, most analog ...
Leave it on?
I have Yamaha MX-1 (>30 years old). Everyday, I turn it on and off. No problem so far.   I just like to listen to music, not observe best condition of audio equipments. Some vinyl LPs give music + scratch noise, but I only focus on the musi...
How much do I need to spend to make vinyl sound better than digital?
The 1,000 LPs: 1,000 = the number of LPs, not $1,000.
How much do I need to spend to make vinyl sound better than digital?
I have ca. 1,000 LPs. I got from mostly "Everyday Music". 50c each. So, ~$500. I cannot say possession of $150,000 is stupid, but also I refrain to say that was wise. The 1,000 LPs give me really emotional music pleasure. I can say this is wise.
How much do I need to spend to make vinyl sound better than digital?
Let me make (the vinyl and digital) clear. If you like any music record which is not available as digital form, then you have no choice, and have to play LP records. And, you need to spend some reasonable money to get decent sound (music). If yo...
Can you do anything to make power tubes last longer ?
When I don’t listen to music, all power off. Power on, standby, etc...., I don’t do that. When I want music, I just all power on. After 5 minutes, almost full performance comes out. 24-hour-on mode does not give much better performance than 5-m...
Directional wires/cables
More talk about "Electron move/flow" Wikipedia explains Einstein's Phoelectric Effect consisely like this: The photoelectric effect is the emission of electrons from a material caused by electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet light.
Directional wires/cables
I did not say electron flow. Actually electrons does not flow in the audio cases. I said energy transfer. Transfer is not same word as "flow". In some cases, the electrons actually, really flow. Einstein's Nobel paper is not of the relativity th...
Directional wires/cables
I said ELECTRICAL energy transfer, especially through the wires, not all form of energy transfer! Read carefully!
Directional wires/cables
Electrical energy movement (120V power to home, audio power to speakers, etc) is just energy transfer by electrons inside the metal wires! Really not matter with any structure of the matals in the wires!  Please, do not incline to the non-scienti...
Ugliest Component of the Year 2024!
So, I can save some money. So, I could/can donate to Oregon Humane Society, where many dogs and cats are wait for help ($$$).
Ugliest Component of the Year 2024!
Ugly or beautiful, I don't care. I just checked the price of the Mc CD player, $5,000. I am using Musical Fidelity CD player ($750 used, 21 yr old). Sounds still wonderful. Maybe with help of nice speakers, Vienna Mahler. Below are my opinion, j...
Wrapping power cords and interconnects with copper foil.
why are there so many writings that look technically correct, but only the writers' opinions. I did the wrapping to my turn-table cables. just wrap. it really worked. s/n ratio was actually, really improved!!! I recorded the signal after phono-amp...
Power cord upgrade
To classicrockfan: You are 100% correct. As long as a power cord is thick enough to handle high current, any such a cord is good. The cheaper, the better. Power code can not affect audio sound quality (maybe 1 - 2%?). I have Vienna Mahler sp...
