Magnepan 1.6 fronts-what non-maggies center/sur
I was a dealer for Magnapans in the past, and have some experience with them over the years. Might I recommend keeping those music speakers for 2 channel music dubties in that system, and doing either one of two things. One, keep the 2 channel sys...
Is hdmi a must have for home theater?
"The decoders for the major formats (either traditional DD or DTS or the new lossless formats) "SHOULD" be the same whether they are in the receiver or in the player. As long as the player has all the decoders, simply from the decoding perspective...
Well ,I got the A/V receiver to play music, but...
Your best bet is to hire someone to hook things up for you for an hours labor. You'll pay $60-100, but it'll be worth it for your skill set and handiness from what you're inferring. Another option is to get a schematic sheet from Monster Cable, th...
Information on Emotiva
I was waiting for their UMC-1 to arrive, but it doesn't seem like it ever made it to market (bizar), did it?Does anyone know if they even have the upgraded model available yet? I stopped calling months ago.I agree, the prices look attractive other...
Is hdmi a must have for home theater?
Frankly I'm shocked at how non-descript this very topic has remained to the general public. I don't hear reviewers emphisizing this point either. As it's very understood that there are a couple of ways to get the HD codecs to play (either internal...
Hi Output MC cartridge recommendations?
lol. I thought this was the home theater forum! My bad.Anyway, yeah, all of the above considerations should suffice. But then what is the rest of your table consisting of, and the rest of your system?
Improve my system
Well of course there's not enough info here to make a complete assessment of your system, lifestyle, etc, and what you do and do not like about your system. Still, the first thing I'd recommend is that you do matching speakers all around. I'd add ...
Horns for HT?
In response to "Shiva" here previously, I would have to add that, if It was my theater I was building - even not having heard the speaker models he mentioned - I would not hesitate for a second to use any of the offerings he's suggesting you look ...
Horns for HT?
I've been an audio/videophile for many years myself. I've owned some Klipschies in the past, and think, done properly, can indeed offer some dynamic, well focused, coherent sounding performance for good HT/music dubties! While I do like the klipsh...
Great, affordable 720p pj...suggestion?
Yeah, I'm gunna say that that deal on the 720 epson looks muy muy bueno! While I've not seen it, it probably is a great choice for a great price, and you'll likely not loose. And if you go with one of the excellent high contrast gray, silver or bl...
Great, affordable 720p pj...suggestion?
optoma hd65 looks even better than the 4805 (black level, color accuracy, rez (obviously), sharpness, etc. And I'm not even a fan of color wheel dlp's. But this one's a winner for like $800 retail at Best Buy! Infact, I've watched a couple movies o...
Totem Speakers and Home Theater
All things equal, you can expect modest results from sub $1k receivers (new), better results from more expensive flagship receivers, and the most powerful ,dynamic, and refined sound from a separates based system. That's not really changed through...
How to unleash the optimum power of a receiver?
audio video receivers are, ultimately, going to yield you limited power distribution, as compared to better separates based systems, everything considered. Not knowing your speaker models - unless your main speakers offer at least powered woofers ...
Def tech speakers with Adcom gfr-700
just know that dolby hd and dts master will likely be a bit softer dynamically than processed in an outboard av pre or receiver. I'd recomend finding something that processes all the lates codecs, and that has EQ built in, plus lates scalling, etc...
Home theater system with ProAc Response 1s?
While I can't recommend strong choices based on not knowing anything of your room, listening habbits, seating arrangements, etc, I'll blanketly add that - if you do choise to build a system around a system with a pair of audiophile 2 way mini moni...
