Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
What is the source?
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
You have no gain issues. You should no IC capacitance issues (with most ICs) and you should be ok with the input imepdance of the amp. The higher the better, but I think you are on that safe side there too.
Who makes the best passive volume control?
Anthony, is the difference between the Endler and EVS based on the resistors used, or something else going on? Would love to hear an at the input version the LSA, but it does not seem in the cards, at least not commercially.
SS amp for Merlin VSMs?
Hi Pedrillo. I have concluded that while the idea of SS appeals to me, I will not ever enjoy them as mych as good tube amps, the latest having been the CAT JL2, Music Reference RM9, and Atma-sphere M60s. I suspect your Simaudio will be a very good...

:) ....
Who makes the best passive volume control?
We could do that, but it seems his stuff is just a pot-in-a-box with a Noble attenuator. If you go that route, I would look at the Music Reference PiB which uses one of the most expensive attenuators ever made by Noble, the one used in the ARC SP6...
Who makes the best passive volume control?
Marebg, those are one passive approach I have not tried, but it sure does help to eliminate an IC, for reasons Ralph alludes to. I would have a bit of an issue with the ergonomics of the Endlers, but I suspect they sound very, very good. That being...
does it logical to invest on expensive transport?
Nglazer, exactly how I see it at this time; regardless of which approach sounds better.
Who makes the best passive volume control?
Mitch, are you saying the Luminous is the best passive volume control, or just one to try? I did have two "pot/resistor" types from Music Reference and Goldpoint, as well as the Placette RVC - all of which sound very good, especially for the price...
goldpoint volume controls and switchers
As far as I can tell, military grade build quality - you can hardly go wrong with Goldpoint attenuators - right up there with anything in the market in terms of quality and sound.
Who makes the best passive volume control?
This is an old thread, but having tried many of the passives mentioned, resistor, tvcs, and avcs, and since product have evolved, I thought it worth mentioning and perhaps stirring more discussion from other passive lovers, the very best volume co...
best class a amp for a grand?
BEL and Belles are two different companies. Unfortunately, the designer of the BEL passed away a year or two ago. The Belles amps I heard sounded very good, but they were not the new Class amps they have come out with recently, but I imagine they ...
best class a amp for a grand?
If you want an NP design and 30 watts of pure single ended class A is enough power I would look for a used Aleph 3 or Aleph 30. I've not heard the Forte 4A, but there are those that love it. I'm not sure NP had much to do with its design, as it us...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
You know Anthony, it just might be that the LSA is what it is and the way it must be:) Some of the DIY community seems to be hell bent on "improving" the LSA - it's just possible it can't be done - without trade off - thought it would be nice to g...
Digitalmeisters - Thoughts on Olive.....
I'm not kiddding when I ask, is there some kind of consensus that USB, while improving, is not the likely to be the best approach to DAC connection? Seems like it does not quite approach the best digital. True?It is for this, among other reasons, ...
