Anyone have experience with "burn-in generators"? Dopogue - I agree with you. It is almost impossible for a phono cable to burn in with that miniscule signal passing through it. Especially silver ones. Here's what I did.I got some male RCA's and some reasonable lengths of solid core copper wire o...
Value Power Cords- LessLoss or Triode Wire Labs? I haven't tried the Less Loss, but I have tried many others, like MAC's, Kaplan's, Asylum cord, and a few of the other large, well known companies (to remain nameless here). To keep it short, my system now consists of Kaplan's and TWL power cords....
So Many Apogees for sale, and so few takers Yeah, Apogees are definitely not something you would put in your livingroom or home theater system. But then again, neither are Maggies, and there are tons of Maggie owners.I would go so far as to say, Maggies are probably the best sounding speake...
So Many Apogees for sale, and so few takers Yes, I agree with much that was said above ...- Apogees are not WAF friendly- Apogees are inefficient and need a high current amp capable of driving 3-4 ohm loads- Apogees are fragile, so shipping them can be an issue, and costly- Apogees are out ...
McCormack DNA-1 vs. Adcom GFA-5802 I agree - if you can wait for one you should pick up a used DNA with a Rev B or better upgrade. The difference between the quite good stock amp and the modded ones are startlingly better. Of course, those modded amps go quickly and don't come up f...
Don't read you'll be sorry Ok guys, just kiss and make up and say "I'm sorry"
Why does your turntable sound the way it does. "Because different materials resonate at different frequencies, and since you can't avoid all resonance completely, some folks seek out the more pleasant."I couldn't agree more. I attempted to damp down my TT as completely as possible, reducing/re...
Audio Prism or Enacom line filters The Audioprisms are really not much more than a few X Caps across the line. You can easily make these yourself for about $2-3. Don't know what is in the Enacoms. Putting X Caps across the line is also primarily what the original Hydra line conditi...
Don't read you'll be sorry I'm not sorry I read the original post, but I am sorry I read all the posts saying they were sorry.
Do you leave your platter spinning while switching It all comes down to the record weight that you use (or don't use). If it's a threaded type (aka VPI) you have to stop the platter from spinning to torque it down.If it's unthreaded, or if you don;t use one, you can keep the platter spinning.
DIY turntable plinth material Try contactiung a kitchen counter fabricatioin place and see if they have any Corian sink cutouts. Corian is very dense and resonant free (any heavy), and it comes in many styles and colors.Check out my systems page for a DIY using VPI platter, be...
PBN Montana Sammy: Any Experience? Oz,It is good to see you posting again. I would love to catch up and see what occurred after Charlotte and Wachovia. I am still in NY and not going anywhere soon - one daughter in college and one in high school.Drop me a line privately and I will ...
Best $1,500-ish New or Used Floorstander - There's a pair of Apogee Calipers for sale here:http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=107829.0Hard to find anything that sounds as good as these for many multiples of this price.
Ideas on speaker like Magnepan but with high WAF Not sure about high WAF, but there are a pair of smaller Apogees (Caliper) for sale here:http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=107829.0Smaller than Maggie's and, in my mind, better sound overall.
Replacement for VPI TNT mark v I had a similar issue with space years ago. I solved it by having a plinth made from Corian in the dimension (and color) I wanted. Worked like a charm (see my systems pictures to see if this would work for you).Enjoy,Bob |
