CEC CD player
Audio Advisor does not sell the CEC player anymore. Paul, you asked a bad question. Every product has strengths and weaknesses. BEcause of its strengths, I have kept my belt drive transport. Because of its weaknesses it is being modded at Modwrigh...
Best CD Player for Classical Music?
Room acoustics, power and vibration control will make you or break you. Power and vibration control affect digital playback more than most people reallize. As for lack of edge and a 'live' vs 'digital' sound, my vote is for belt drive transports. ...
Vinyl, should I take the plunge?
JJ, you better have some good reasons to go into vinyl--especially with your current rig. For vinyl to even start approaching digital in the noise department, the noise floor must be taken to *uncanny* low levels. This is neither easy--nor cheap--...
Who has used a Genesis Digital Lens?
A power cord is no substitute for proper filtration, especially when dealing with digital gear. Regardless of whether it's the Genesis, Monarchy, or any other device, you are adding another component, another power cord/filtration issue, another d...
Who has used a Genesis Digital Lens?
I'd spend that money on power delivery/noise control...
Does balanced interconnect sound beter than RCA?
"For example, Conrad Johnson uses all single ended designs and seem to believe the extra cost involved with balanced circuitry is superfluous for home audio."What Dejan Veselinovic says makes a LOT of sense. Seems that with a filtered ground singl...

Does balanced interconnect sound beter than RCA?
There's a really good thread in AudioCircle that deals w/ this topic. I really like my friend Dejan Veselinovic's (AKA the Serbian Hope) answer, as it is original and thoughtful. He says RCA usually sounds beter than balanced if the ground is filt...
Starting Analog...
Vinyl is a hassle--let's face it. Unless you already have a lot of records that *you* like and/or access to cheap ones it's not worth it. To top it off, one needs an analog rig that will be up to the rest of your equipment. I don't say this to dis...
Room acoustics: diffusor or absorber?
Check a thread titled "Diagonal room placement." Rhyno shows how to make the clones.
What makes a good tonearm?
If you take a close look at the Technics' 1200 tonearm you'll see the features of an outstanding tonearm. Full gimbal w/ extremely low friction bearings (published spec), s-shaped and bent at two unequal distances to avoid resonance, damped counte...
Essential TT/Cartridge Set up tools
I'll add a *small* 90 degree bent tip needlenose pliers, a small screwdriver and a jeweler's loupe. Get up with the program!
Room acoustics: diffusor or absorber?
I have a setup similar to yours and I use three RPG ProFoam Level 1 difussors mounted on foam board. Works great. You can also make your own RPG Skylines clones cheaply.
