My vote is for the Monolithic Sound PS1/HC1 combo. A good, trustable source tells me it is better than the PS2. It will definitely be quieter than the EAR and it is a smaller/cheaper relative (circuit topology wise) of the classic Klyne phono stag...
How good is the Shunyata Venom Silver A/C outlet?
Samuel, I think a good outlet is the most cost effective *device* in an audio/video system. I'm glad to know there's another choice in the market. Congratulations. Now, we need Lak to test one of these in his system and write a review! Maybe Shunya...
turntable speed?
Predictable was how people in the Vinyl Asylum would be catching up to a particular modded DD turntable. What an exponential curve!
turntable speed?
That's right! Those lower level belt drives (regardless of brand name) can't keep accurate speed. There was somebody in the Vinyl Asylum complaining about his Michell TT. So much for that...***
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
I really feel like I'm a success in spite of all the mistakes I've made walking this path. That's a great line--one in touch with the reality of life. A lot of people can't say that...Yes, I've been watching, but as I told Frumkin, I've been in the...

Talk about the 1200's special feet, guys!

Are you bored to tears with the topics lately?

I have not replaced the internal wiring, but it will be done sometime in the future. Also, the shorter the distance the better.
Back into vinyl - part 1
The reason Kevin is coming up with more mods and more selection of 1200 models is simple: he's selling them right and left.It was all a matter of having the first few modded ones out there...now people are comparing them to other so-called 'audiop...
Back into vinyl - part 1
Zaikes, I haven't heard Nightdoggy's creature, though he sent me a detailed e-mail describing what he did. Basically, he reengineered/rerouted the quartz lock circuitry and used the best Panasonic electrolytic capacitors for feeding DC current to ...
Back into vinyl - part 1
As much as I like him, Kevin has some lessons to learn in the instant power delivery department...I learned this approach from Nightdoggy, who told me is an EE and modded his 1200 without resorting to an outboard power supply. He actually claims a...
Turrntable With or Without Suspension?
Technics 1200 is the closest you'll get to what you want. However, it needs lateral damping. Why don't you put spikes on the wooden cabinet? That would be a first step to getting everything moving in unison...
"Analog" = bloated, rolled off, soft and mushy?
My digital rig is all solid state and sounds wonderful. Tubes are not needed--proper power filtration is, though...
