Are USB-SPDIF's relevant with today's DAC USB technology? Plug your new USB cable into a good converter like the M2Tech or the Berkeley. Then run a good AES cable (I use MIT) from the converter to the new DAC. That will be better than running your USB cable directly into your new DAC.
Are USB-SPDIF's relevant with today's DAC USB technology? The Berkeley Audio DAC, which is one of the best, does not accept USB in. Why? Because using a converter is currently the best-sounding option. Their converter is top notch, as well as the M2Tech when its used with the optional battery and extern...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? While we're at it, could someone explain how those MIT boxes work? I like my MIT's but I'm fighting the urge to dissect one.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Cable threads like this are a good opportunity for one to affirm one's own personal biases. To believe that cables make no significant difference is wishful thinking. Any audiophile able to do it has my congratulations.

Class D Technology Not much doubt that class D noise is independent of signal levels, and poses no unusual threat to speakers. I own the Spectron monoblocks. Superb sounding amps, amazing value relative to cost.
David Berning preamp..looking for suggestions Don't listen to that nonsense about SMPS and digital hash/artifacts. Its all about implementation.
Teres Audio Chris Brady, great guy. If you can reach him, he will try to help you.
What are the smallest speakers that are clean and flat down to 20hz? Vandersteen 5a. Nipple-high at most.
Audio withdrawal Mixing and matching is so passe. Just buy well-designed neutral components, and you will be able to enjoy listening to music rather than equipment.
What drugs do you use to enhance your listening experience? That's very interesting!
Aurender servers and power cords That's what I wanted to hear, thanks.
Why has amplifier power become a big issue I agree that some (most?) of the complex multiway speakers can sound more authoritative on transients with more watts. But for the same dollars, a lower power amp may sound more musical. There are now amps that combine musicality with big watts, ... |
