Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
Mrpresident, that's a big blanket.
For those who "sold" Dynaudio Evidence speakers
Thanks Drubin. My experience makes me feel it is the instantaneous unforced natural dynamic swing of live music that primarily sets it apart from the reproduced/recorded. Distortion being the other culprit.

Thanks Jwaugh. You have valuable experience for me. Avalon Diamonds are the other speakers I am considering as I certainly expect they will work well with the Spectral/MIT I use. Could you comment on the differences you notice between the Diamonds...

Thanks Deshapiro. You mention 'they love powerful SS amps". What would you consider a minimum acceptable power from your experience-keeping in mind a modest 28x15.8x8.8 room and modest classical listening levels of Reference Recordings-which I men...

Thanks Nrostov, You sound happy with yours, that's great. Amplifier power has come up, would you mind advising how much power you use to drive them? Could you describe the benefits of the Dali Megalines over the Temptations and put into perspectiv...

Ttowntony, thanks for your continued contribution. I understand your comments on the bass to indicate the Temptations bass is accurate, not excessive or lumpy. As a classical and jazz fan this is exactly what I seek as I find clarity in the lower ...

Owl,Thanks for your comments. Resolving and transparent are qualities I seek as I spend most time listening to Classical music and particularly appreciate the string, flute and woodwind sections added detail, nuance and smoothness as resolving imp...

Ttowntony, Re you're comments on amplification. I use a Spectral DMA 180 (400W@4ohm and 60 amp peak current)and want my next speakers to be "well" or easily powered by it. To put it another way, my next speakers must be a complement and significan...

How do you get all the music onto your Crimson?
Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
Mcpody I understand the majors couldn't agree; I just don't understand why, given the marked superiority of HDCD? Sure DVD-As and SACDs were on the way-but neither was as easily backwards compatible. In fact,it seems virtually all manufacturers co...
Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
Joman that's interesting as Billy G. certainly could have handled the 'marketing' of HDCD. I wonder what he's done with it? I hope Keith Johnson was well paid for it; he has certainly contributed much to my listening enjoyment via cassettes, Spect...
SACD certainly bests CD for me.
Nodaker, Your on the path I want-a CD player that sounds as good as or better than a good SACD played on the NS 9100ES-very adaquate sound. Mind saying what CD player you updated to. After listening to CD through the NS9100ES I notice it's quite v...

How 'bout 'Island Girl'?
Suggestions for Classical Piano "works of merit"
Thanks TKAudio, Rushton and Newbee. I try new pieces by borrowing from our city library to see if I want to buy. These days they only deal in CD's, so as much as I appreciate vinyl(via a 1980's Goldmund Studietto) I have no way to audition Vinyl a...
