The Room, not us, determines our speaker choices
The room was 12' x 18' but had some wierd stuff going on and had a L shaped dining room attached. The only way they would work is with the R speaker close to the wall between the TV and wall and the other speaker was almost out in the open. The tu...
Small sub
if you can fit a jl audio fantum 112, it is the best sub out ther in what I cansider a small size. Trouble is a sub has to move air which by definition means some size. JL cheats a little since they have one of the longest throughs on the market. ...
The best "imaging" speakers?
Depends on the room! I aggree with Chadnliz Vandersteen are some of the best also Magnapans. Here is my theory, using Vandersteen as a example, there are others. Vandersteens have pots and crossovers to tune each speaker to the pre amp and room ac...
The Room, not us, determines our speaker choices
One other thing that people are swareing buy is these sound eq like audssey (sp) that balance your speakers to a room. These hit the HT market in processors a couple of years ago and wow what a difference. They now make some high end ones for 2 ch...
The Room, not us, determines our speaker choices

First Trip outside of Best Buy, a real newbie.

go where after vandersteen 2ce
Wow I am a big vandy fan when I had the 2ce I found the 2wq sub made a big difference on the lowes and highs. I aggree with Jallen up above make sure they are set up right. Other speaker will be brighter and more boomey some people like that but t...
quicksilver v4 monoblocks
I am running vandersteen 5a's with them before that 2ce they are the one part of my system that has stayed the same. They are reliable work well and sound great. I have herd some different amps maybe even better but as stated again at 3 x the cost...
Please suggest good balanced Preamp
I have a Asthetix Calypso and am very happy with it. they had a bad batch of tubes that is why the noise complaints. but it is very open and transparent.
Vandersteen 7 Flagship at CES
Wow allot of good comments. I agree the price seems steep 3x the 5a's, but I have not herd them so I can not judge, yet. For me the look is much nicer than the 5a which I have now and never really cared for, that for me is a big part of it. I am s...
Best amp for Vandersteen Quattro?
I use quicksilver v4's for the mains impressive smooth and sound great with vandies. I use a cary cinema 5 for the sourounds and center probably overkill on the cinema 5.
Best Big Sub? or duals?
feedback I ment the interface that velodyne has created for the dd18, it is nice. F113 doesn't really have anything visual but at the end of the day that is not needed. Comes down to what sound the best and fits your system.
Best Big Sub? or duals?
After much research and listening to them it was a toss up between the dd18's and the Fathom f113. I chose 2 fathom 113. It was just a smaller faster and a more powerful sub, the DD18 won in the software and set up I like tweekeing and the eq is a...
12v triggered outlet?
Best I can come up with is to use a richard gray extender. This adds a switch between the outlet and the amp that can be controled by a 12v trigger but the switch and outlet and stuff is pretty high quality.
