He spent his life building a $1 million stereo. The real cost was unfathomable. The real story here is about caring for your loved ones.
Speaker for 11x12 room I've been shopping for a room this size. So far, to me, the Proac D2R is a great value. Seemless driver integration. Music sounds very natural. Wonderful soundstaging and imaging. Great dynamics.
Tidal or Qobuz Both excellent. User interfaces and auto playlist algorithms are very different. Qobuz interface and algorithms get me further out of my comfort zone and into newer recordings and artists. Tidal, less so. I use both to keep my listening fresh.
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'? It's a subjective descriptor. It means that the whole of the component's sound conveys music in a way that pleases. Or a way that conveys the emotional content of the music. It's the most important descriptor. It is my bottom line when evaluating ...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!! Vandersteen Quatros in the living room. Very refined and open. Jean Marie Reynaud Bliss Silver with Rel sub in the study. More pressurized. Love both rigs. The Quatro Wood CTs are probably end game. They were a budget stretch. I'm loving the JMR B...
Okto DAC 8 Stereo (Shout-out) Mine arrived yesterday. I am running the output at 0 and it works fine with my Pass X.0 front end. Amp is an Audio Research 100.2. Speakers are Vandersteen Quatro Wood CT. I have not heard a lot of high end DACs. I have heard the Audio Research D...
NAD M23 Stereo Amplifier: Best Amp Ever Bench Tested?!? Specs and measurements can be interesting but ultimately unimportant. I listen to how a component sounds. How does it shine light on a performance. Consider visual perception. You have day light, incandescent, flourescent. Dappled light, shadin...
Vandersteen 5a, 15 years old vs. new Vandersteen Quatro Wood (upgrade or downgrade) Just got my Quatros. I've been dreaming about these for a while. Holy Cow they are great. I have been an audiophile for about 20 years and also used to do pro audio. I have heard some very resolving systems. I am super pleased with how these sound...
Tannoy PBM 6.5 Monitors anyone? I just refurbished a pair. When i bought them they sounded unlike I remembered them. Highs were harsh, overall sound kind of pale. There is one electrolytic capacitor in the crossover I figured that I would change the ferrofluid in the tweeter and...
My stereo receiver is a little too bright. Can a cable help me out? That is one of the best receivers of that era. It should sound full, fast and sweet. Not bright. What speakers? Oh, and you did not make a mistake. Pioneer 50 series have given a lot of great trouble free service to many a happy music lover for ov...
Dahlquist DQ10: best reasonably priced power B&K made some nice amps in the 200w per channel range that pair very nicely with the DQ-10s. I am currently using and Odyssey amp at 150w a side and it works well. Adcom 555 or a Yamaha C-85 are well regarded and should work very nicely.
Audio Kharma website I have learned a lot at AK. There is much more to it than the Bacon thread. There are a lot of talented techs both professional and serious hobbyists that contribute. Another thing I like about AK is their appreciation of quality vintage audio. Ye...
Pioneer SX-1050: worth repairing? The Pioneer SX-1050 is an outstanding receiver that will outperform any new unit under 2K. It is well worth a full restoration. They are not that complicated and any competent tech should be able to do the job. Audio Karma is an excellent resource...
YAQIN experience, anyone? I just ordered a MC100 after hearing one this weekend. I was not in the market for a new amp. I was stunned at the performance and I liked it as much as any amp I have heard, better than most. The build quality is excellent, and it is a very hands...
any hear dared or ming da amps? I have been passionately into audio, pro and otherwise for the last 20 years. I meet with a group of audio nuts every week and have the opportunity to listen to a wide range of gear. Last Saturday someone brought in the Yaqin mc100 (with upgraded ... |
