Should I avoid thick vinyl?
You have gotten some wise advice. Just a few days ago a member was complaining about the poor quality of some expensive records. I have ordered from wdcdradio and soundstagedirect for years. I have gotten very good quality vinyl each time and the ...
Speakers help for a newb...
The previous responders are correct with the Vandersteens. You will NOT need a subwoofer. Your room should be large enough not to have bass bloat as I did in my 14'x13' room. But your room isn't that much larger so try and find a friend that has som...
Speakers help for a newb...
I would suggest a pair of Magnepan MG12's. These can handle from rock to Classical and all in between. They are clean, pretty accurate but some may need a subwoofer to go with them and some not. You can usually find them here for around $650 to $8...

does anyone service meadowlark speakers?
Timrhu is correct. You should be able to purchase the drivers off the shelf after you identify the manufacture and the model of the drivers.
Tube el34
I'm using EH EL34s in my Modified ST70. I tried the SED's, new Mullards,Sovtek current and older vintage, Tunsols, New and Old Teslas, and the winner is EH EL34's. The old Teslas are really the best of all but so hard to get. The SED's were clean ...
Which cartridge best for RB300
Have you checked with Dynavector to see if they have a retipping program or upgrade program? I would consider that first rather than go on a blind search and buy something that you may not like at all. Just my 2 cents worth! Because your table is ...
cheap/decent speaker cable and interconnect advice
I would visit a local dealer and have them put some pins on your cable. But, radio shack will be an alterntive solution. Another is to go to partexpress.com and order the pins and solder them yourself too. They maybe cheaper than radio shack. I'm ...
Can speakers be too large for a room
Hi I have a similar problem. My room is 13' x 14' with a 14' ceiling A Frame. I can't put any floor standing speakers in that room that go below 40Hz. This holds true of ported designs even more. I had LIving Voice Auditoriums and the Avatars in m...
Aparent speaker damage
After you switched the position of the speakers open the cabinet to see if anything fell off the back of the driver(s) like the magnet, or crossover components, and etc. Make sure all components are tight and not dangling around inside. Also make ...
Noisy vinyl from Classic Records
Sometimes vinyl can be damaged or forms wrong while waiting for packaging. It could have been stored incorrectly and has deformed or warped. Contact Classic Records and see if they have had any similar complaints. It could be a bad batch.
Bass Clarinet Recordings
If you like the bass clarinet then check out Carol Sudhalter on baritone sax. I may have 2 LP's by her and I have had a hard time finding more but they are great too.
new kt 90s any good ?
I'm looking for a quad of Ei KT90's. I have heard these and I think they are some of the best tubes I have ever heard. The Gold Lions are supposed to be the cream of the crop. If I can't get a set of Ei KT90's I will go with the Gold Lions. I have...
Spica TC-50 and amp advice
Experiment with cables. Silver tend to have a more lifted top end with the PS. Copper tends to be smoother and will sound rolled off under some circumstances. You can even run a long cable run with the PS Audio. One last thing use it in the passiv...
Spica TC-50 and amp advice
It's amazing the different ampifiers used with the Spica TC 50's. I have had my best luck with a Dynaco ST 70 with Sound Valves input board. There are numerous other modsdone to it as well including a new power transformer, B+ power supply improve...
