Maggie MMG versus Ls3/5a
I see my response has garnered some comments... First of all if I could have numerous systems throughout my home I would undoubtedly have a dedicated room for Maggies, for late night Jazz listening I can think of no speaker I would prefer over the...
Maggie MMG versus Ls3/5a
I've owned 3 different sets of Maggies (including MMG's) and I can tell you what they do well they do very well. That said, to me they are among the most "music sensitive" brands of speakers out there. If your musical tastes run more towards Jazz,...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mrjkycvs as a proud owner of Ohm Walsh 3's I've no doubt about your love for the MWT's. BUT, as a former owner of Definitive Technology speakers I can't help but think you're embellishing your criticism of those speakers just a bit. I mean Def Tec...
What is the best planar or electrostatic speaker?
The title of your thread is "Whats the best planar or electrostatic speaker" but the content of your question is about new speakers (which are neither stat nor planar) you have coming. Not really clear how one relates to the other?
I would like impressions of Tekton Lore and Lore S
I think you answered your own question,,, The Lore's will give you MORE of what the M Lore's give (dynamics and live sounding) and in Eric's own words the Lore S is a more "refined or HiFi-ish" sounding speaker.
Floorstanding Speakers for Bluesy Rock 5-10k ?
Tekton Pendragons sound like they could be just the ticket, I don't have any personal experience with them but they have been very well received and there is plenty written about them. Do a search on them and I'm sure you'll be able to tell if the...
NHT 2.5i VS NHT Classic 4
I had an absolutely gorgeous pair of Mahogony 2.5's a few years back and as much as I wanted to love them I never got the sense that the bass was truly integrated with the mid's and highs. It always seemed detached and rubbery sounding to me (if t...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Finsup nice story about dancing with your son. A few weeks ago my 20 year old daughter had a few girlfriends over and I blasted Nick Curran and the Nitelifes "Down Boy Down" through my Ohm Walsh 3's and within seconds they were all dancing and jum...
MMG 2.1 setup
I owned MMG's a number of years ago which I sold to a friend who still loves them. The subs I had the best luck with were sealed designs, M&K and NHT both fit the bill nicely. Sealed subs don't typically go as low as a vented sub but to my ear...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
On my Ohm Walsh 3's I removed the casters and replaced them with solid rubber footers. Then, because they sit on carpet I went down to Lowes and picked up a piece of solid birch 1" thick which I cut into two 14" squares, after painting them black ...
Best Dock , DAC
Well it's a far cry from $1500 but the little Pure i20 dock/dac ($100) has turned my ipod into my preferred source. It has a built in DAC which to my ears sounds pretty good and is a far cry from the ipod's DAC. Or if you prefer, it will extract t...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Just noticed this thread hit 1700 posts! That is nearly 10% of all the posts in the entire speaker section, unreal.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
A couple of years ago I acquired a mint and beautiful pair of mahogany NHT 2.5's that I was very stoked about, even the wife thought they at least looked better than my beloved NLA's. However, I was very disapointed that I could not get them to so...
