why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
You have to see what a system can do first and that's down to the details. Placement, the room, speaker stands, cabling, power. All these things can sometimes make a system sound ten times better than it did because they were overlooked.

Quality cables are a must if you want to get the best out of your system. I've known people who upgraded their speakers or other components before upgrading the cabling in their system. At the very least, get cables that can make your system perfo...
Adcom GFA 535 II
I'm running a gfa-535 II with Elac B6 and it's a great match. Keep in mind that everything is relative to price point. It certainly outperforms what was available at that price point (epsecially with the used price of the Adcom) by a margin. Loads...
Oyaide Cables
@david_ten   I compared it specifically to the Wireworld Starlight 7, AudioQuest Carbon and Chord C-USB so it was a real world comparison. I know that as you go up the scale, some people have claimed increments of improvement but I flat out stoppe...

Does a tube need the break-in hours?
Yes, they do break in. Do they NEED a break in? Not really. Small signal tubes especially will sound good within a few minutes of warming up but they will tend to sound better after a while because everything gets "baked" and molded into shape so ...
