Is Sigtech alive and well?
Yes Cg70754 is correct. The setup is included in the purchase price. The $400-500 charge is if you have a Sigtech rep come out and set up the system and then not buy.
Is Sigtech alive and well?
I use the Sigtech with Dunlavy SC-V's in a room that has acoustical treatment to begin with. I wouldn't live without the Sigtech. Nothing will bring out the music in your system like a Sigtech. I would sugggest that you have a Sigtech rep set up y...
Is Sigtech alive and well?
I spoke with them a few month ago and they seemed to be fine. Most of their sales are to professional audio and not to high end. They also have a cool DAC for USB computer audio. They have always been very helpful when I spoke to them. They are a ...
Have you ever sniffed your AC ???
I would like to thank Sean for his detailed post. I also use the Audioprism Sniffer and the wallwarts. They are excellent. I have also used an expensive Oscilloscope to verify that the Sniffer was both catching all the noise and not firing on a cl...
CD Scratch Repair Kits
I have also used the Skip Doctor on scratched and skipping CD's. It is a pain to use but it works. I usually use either the auric illuminator or automotive plastic polish kiton the easy scratches. I also tested the skip doctor on a new Reference R...
Dunlavy SC-VI
I would second the comments of audioguy. I have Dunlavy SC-V's and use a Sigtech. I had a similiar dip around 40Hz. Since I listen to a lot of organ and late romantic music this was quite annoying. I used the RPG software ( Much simpler than the C...
Unreadable CDs: unscientific testing
Recently, I've been buying a lot of used CD's. I use the Auric stuff on CD's that misbehave. I almost always works. For those CD's that were used for beach frisbee, I've had success with an automotive plastic polish kit.
Why Can We plug our AMPS directly into wall w/o Worrying?
Onhighway61 is right about digital components. I've used a 'scope and a noise sniffer to measure the amount of junk that various high end digital units put back onto the AC lines. In most cases, even for multi kilobuck units, they put out a lot. I...
How often do you listen to live music?
We go to about four live classical concerts per month; Symphony, Opera, chamber and ballet.
Floor Resonance and Full Range Speaker Stands
I isolated my Dunlavy SC-Vs from the regular joists and then supported that section of floor to the concrete below. This was a huge improvement, easily measured with a real time analyzer. Floor jacks are a cheap experiment
CARA - Room Acoustic Software
After some basic modeling of your room and speakers I think it becomes easier to have in room real time measurements made. I used the much simpler RPG software to get some general ideas about speaker placement, room treatments and listening positi...
Perpetual Tech Dac vs DCS or Wadia Dacs
The PT units are good for the price. They are not close to the dCS gear, but then neither is the cost.
Insurance On Equipment
I don't pay a significant amount more per $1000 for my named rider. But for unusual stuff it easier to process a claim for exotic equipment that a claims adjuster might never of heard of or doubt that you owned (what if your receipts burned with y...
MSB price increase
I have had nothing but good experiences with MSB. I have a Link, a Gold and a Platinum. My main system is a dCS Elgar and a 972 upsampler. The Platinum is very close to the dCS and that's even before their new upsampler board which I should have f...
New Transport Approach
I took a quick look and the fastest currently available standard CD-ROM reader with standard error correction is 40x. This would mean about 2 minutes of latency. Another advantage of this approach would be to apply proprietary error correction on ...
