Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
Yes, but he is asking WHY it sounds better not how to cook a pizza faster. A little different I think. One is for fire protection (the stove).  The other is for equipment protection. There are No fuses on my TV. I have a reset button on my table s...

Where do measurements count? Distortion: 1-10% depends on load and volume. There is a number to deal with. I'd take a deep breath before I listened if I would at all. Some tube systems are very close to those specs.
White Noise in earphones
Try to clean out the hole where you are plugging in. Maybe something got stuffed into the opening and stopping the male from plugging all the way in. Rotate the barrel of the 3.5mm male, does it get louder? The shielding may be damaged or junk in ...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
It’s not the increase in the amperage of the fuse. It most likely was just the fuse change. Pulling and replacing the fuse cleaned the contacts. You can prove that by reinstalling the old fuse. If the sound is good it was the contacts. If it retur...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
The equipment fuse is for the equipment, not fire protection. The house breaker is for fire protection. The only equipment in my house with a fuse is the garbage disposal and my shark vacuum cleaner. The stereo does but the TV or hardly anything I...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
I read here on AG that a cold start with a regular fuse can take up to an hour to recover from the a hard cold start. That is the main reason boutiques sound better and over time stay sounding better. That little wire isn't moving in a fuse filled...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
I'd say it was time for a fuse holder clean up and new fuse in the right direction. I'd be looking at a PC too if a fuse made that kind of difference. Some manufactures equipment react differently than others to fuses and power cables. It usually ...
Line Source - to toe in or not?
So separate enclosures for the different drivers is a good idea? Is that the reason why subs or woofer columns are separate from the mid panel or drivers and the line of tweeters? I had 123s 15+ years ago. They were a nightmare. I did everything G...

RGR Model 4 Pre Amp ....HUM QUESTION
Which way is on? Are the tone controls turned way up when you engage the button? If they are turned up, set them to 0 or the flat position. Just a thought.

Thanks, someone somewhere is bound to know.
Cary SLP-05 Trim Pots
petg60 you got me. I'm a handyman at best. It sounds like I need a scope and someone that knows how to use it. :-) I haven't moved anything but I did index the pots just in case they get moved. Thanks

Thanks russ69, I called Cary. They told me NO MAP on current production equipment.  I know without a map it's pretty hard to get there from here. Hopefully someone knows something. I guess I could draw a schematic, and look at the way the older pr...

Thanks I looked in the manual too. I didn't see anything. It has two trim pot inside the top or where the 8 6SN7 are located. The 2 pots seem to adjust the 4 in a cluster. The other 2 on the same IC board look like they are for the XLR (balanced) ...
