Is There any Truly "High End" Integrated Amp?
I use the Cary 300SEI BLX although heavily modified. check it out by clicking on my "system".
Plastic ring over tweeter opinion
One way to put the question is, although obviously there are very specific reasons for the phase rings, at what cost the benefit. The same may be asked of Pierre's suggestion. Again, a call to Pierre might shed some light more specifically. I just...

Z, the other thread was quite old and I thought it relevent to this one, but, point taken. I certainly did not complain to Agon. Re: your last line, I don't get you, but I speak for the record and to those with ears to hear. As they say in AA, tak...
Very short speaker cable length recommended?
I am a dealer for Mapleshade and Pierre told me that the issue first came to his attention when a customer complained abut the sound of a short run he had just sold to him to replace an identical but longer run. He got them back and tested them ou...

p.s. reversable with a bit o' glue.
Plastic ring over tweeter opinion
Why do I bother adding to these threads 3 months late???To start the ball rolling on the wrong foot right from the start, I'm a Mapleshade dealer and friend of Pierre's. Although this might discount what I have to say for the cynically inclined, i...
Mapleshade Golden Helix Vs Double Helix
As you go up the line they just get more and more transparant and lose more and more gunge and edginess. You can count on it. And it just keeps getting better with the upper end stuff, real ear openers without being bright at all, very revealing s...
MAPLESHADE RECORDINGS
I recorded at Pierre's and have since done alot of my own live to 2 track recording. The more minimal and the higher the quality/transparancy gets, the more everything shows up. The same with the system; but it gets tweekier and tweekier, more cri...
any DAC recommend for around $1000-1300?
Red Wine Audio has a variant of the dAck! that may be even better and possibly cheaper. At the price, it might be worth experimenting. My guess is it'll be an apples and oranges thing, but you might find you really like oranges. Non-oversampling f...
Theory about Cary amps and their reviewers
better late than never...I own a Cary 300SEI LX20, the higher watt KR tube version, no longer made due to reliability issues with the older KR tubes and then the company itself. The extra power makes the difference for most speakers. The tube itse...
Linear Tracking or Not?, Any Experiences and Recs
The vacuum is definitely for BOTH warps and interface resonance issues and worrks wonders on both.
Linear Tracking or Not?, Any Experiences and Recs
I'm really surprised platter rings haven't caught on more. I predict that we'll see more versions of them as time goes on. My table won't accomodate the currently available one but I've dreamt of making one for years.
Linear Tracking or Not?, Any Experiences and Recs
I 've been using a tweeked Maplenoll Ariadne signature for about 13 years with great results. I won't throw my hat in the ring with comparisons since I haven't done any controled test since th Maplenoll is an integrated unit. I will however throw ...
Time to Uncork that '55 Metzner?
oh, and/or contact cement sheet lead onto the bottom, or that sheet rubber you were gonna put upside.
Time to Uncork that '55 Metzner?
you might leave the cork and paint he underside of the platter with rubber cement. Do it outside.
